Britain Braced For Savage Storm. The weather bods seem to go for the doom and gloom scenario every time and seem to get it wrong more often than not.

There was a time when Englishmen were renowned for understatement. Eastern Canada and the American Colonies have really had savage weather. We are merely expecting an ill-tempered breeze with pretentions to become a boisterous squall. God Save The Queen and bless all on the sea.
The met Office has become part of 'Show Biz'. No longer do you get objective weather forecasts, they use phrases like 'sunshine on offer' as if you could choose the sunshine where you lived.
