I played a round of golf not too long ago with an in-law who was the manager over all the mechanics at Lockheed when the SR-71 Blackbird was first built. He was given the honor of marshalling the first flight and giving the pilot the final salute as he taxied. It was a very interesting 18 holes of golf, with lots of colorful storytelling.
Kelly Johnston's most magnificient invention, all done during the 1950's with slide rules and thinking with your brain. As great a acheivement as getting to the moon and back safely. ONLY the United States was able to achive both.
