I was deployed Oct 06 - Oct 07 in Iraq. We did convoy security out of LSA Anaconda (Balad Air Base). Alot of the guys who put these together are younger (18-25) and most of their music exposure is limited to the hard rock/metal and to rap/hip hop. Not even classic hard rock like AC/DC, Van Halen, etc, or old school rap like Public Enemy, Run DMC, etc.
We would connect our MP3 players to the vehicle intercom system to have tunes while on the road. I had a mix of classic/alt rock, a bit of rap, etc on mine (I turned 40 just before we returned). Once I had to explain a different style of music to another Sgt who was in my truck.......
It was jazz.
