None of today's "politics" argues that the 19th Amendment was in any way a 'good idea.' It has obviously run straight into the wall of "sounds good on paper and should work but reality and consequences disagree." [my rule: Just because it CAN be done is NOT A REASON to do it.]
Put another way:
INTENTION DOES NOT OBVIATE CONSEQUENCES
[?] Prohibition [The Volstead Act] was another of those 'sounds good on paper' ideas, but it was repealed, and I'm thinking of another Act of CONgress that needs repealing.
