Begorra! Comic song on Obama’s Irish roots has become a hit on YouTube...
..as my long term readers know I have been promoting this song for a couple of months. they have promised me a good version of the track and hopefully it will appear. There are those who think this is in support of O'Bama but I can assure you it is a piss take. I will continue to promote it because it is fun and when Ger and the lads make a decent track I will edit the video for them. Failing that I will sing the bloody song for myself. the bit below is nicked from the Irish News.

THROUGH lyrics including “he’s as Irish as bacon and cabbage and stew”, the Irish roots of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama have been satirised – becoming a major internet hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Recorded by three brothers from Limerick, the hit entitled There’s No-one as Irish as Barack Obama, has attracted almost 15,000 hits on internet site YouTube in recent weeks.
The band – Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys – celebrate the Irish ancestry of Mr Obama after learning of his links to the small town of Moneygall in Offaly.
The Illinois senator’s ancestry was last year traced back to a shoemaker in the village
with his great-great-great-grandfather born in Ireland.
Even if Senator Obama fails to get to the White House, Ireland will still be able to stake a claim to the US presidential election, with John McCain having links to Co Donegal.
The Republican party’s presidential hopeful has distant relatives in Ballybofey – the equivalent of ninth cousins – who spell their surname slightly differently.
The McKanes or McKeans were cousins of the senator’s ancestor Alexander McCain who emigrated to the US from Co Antrim in the 18th century.
However, Alexander’s uncle stayed in Ireland and eventually his children moved to the Finn Valley area of Co Donegal.
But the three Limerick musicians – Gerard, Brian and Donncha Corrigan – hope that Obama is the triumphant candidate, even predicting he “will do Riverdance” if his bid for the presidency is successful.
The song has attracted interest across the world with a number of US record companies now in discussions with the band about releasing the tribute ahead of the election.
Gerard last night said that they were astounded at the popularity of the song.
“We put it on YouTube and by the end of March it had 25 hits and from then on it has gone bananas,” he said.
“It was played last week on the MSNBC Political Show Hardball in the USA, which has around 7 million viewers.
“The Washington Post, LA Times and Kansas City Star have all featured articles on the song.”
He added that they had sent the hit to Obama’s senior advisors and “if they’ve heard it, then he’s definitely heard it”.
“I’m pretty certain he loved it,” he said."
