Few people know (and few who DO know [Ben Bernanke & Co.] are saying so publicly) that during the Great Depression US Government debt as a percentage of GDP did not reach 40%.
Today, during what our Honest Democrats (C) are calling the Great Recovery, US debt is set to pass 100% of GDP.
- Yup! 100% GDP to Government debt! All thanks to their spending!
Our lame duck [read: fired] Marxist Congress ...for our own 'good' of course...wants to pack even MORE spending we neither want nor need UP our......er, down our throats.
- Small wonder these well-informed, highly-educated "progressives" enjoy a 13% approval rating. The BIG wonder is that they do not care one bit what "we the people" (all 87% of us think). They are clearly telling us to go pound sand.
Ah, Mr. orwell was indeed prophetic:

....meanwhile, China buys gold with cash it has in hand, and Congress buys more "pork" [read: earmarks] with money it does not have, but must borrow.
Only ONE of these is actually a good plan....the other is sinking faster than a head-shot carp!
- And I fully expect Bernanke of the FED to double-down on failure by increasing the FED's already 'doubled' balance sheet by one or two trillion Dollars more!!!

The "Buzz Bomb" is back. The World War II-era V-1 bomb originally situated outside the courthouse is back after nearly two years of extensive restoration.
While local attorney J. Frank Durham was training for the Navy in Stumpneck, Md., he received orders to destroy a roomful of obsolete enemy arms recovered after the war. Durham considered that most civilians would never have the opportunity to see these relics of war, so he suggested they be preserved for display - a possibility his lieutenant said would "take an act of Congress."
So Durham went to Congress. With the help of Sen. William Jenner and Rep. Noble Johnson, a train-load of obsolete military supplies were donated to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) chapter. The V-1 was chosen to stand out and was prepped for exhibition. A pair of Japanese guns were also put on display in front of the VFW. The rest of the items remain unaccounted for.
The family of Sen. William Hoadley donated the bomb's limestone support. It was designed by Arthur Perry, DePauw University's former Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
The VFW was denied memorial space in Robe Anne Park, so the group chose the southwest corner of the courthouse, with the promise that the display should be educational, since the device is the forerunner of guided missile warfare. The German-engineered buzz bomb was officially dedicated on Armistice Day 1949 and has been a fixture on the square ever since.

Michael Moore Defends Julian Assange on 'Countdown With Keith Olbermann'
Moore starts blabbering about halfway through the clip, and at 14:00 minutes he claims that the rape allegations against Assange are "a bunch of hooey." See the reports at Mediaite, "Michael Moore’s Comments on Julian Assange Rape Allegations Spark Outrage," and "Limbaugh: Liberals Would “Help A Thousand Rapists” To Free “One America-Hater”."
All in the name of anti-Americanism.

Why are those Americans who are most distrustful of the U.S. government, and so eager to undermine it, the same ones who are most desperate to give it control over their own lives? Michael Moore has made a big P.R. show of his pledge to pay Julian Assange’s bail. “WikiLeaks, God bless them, will save lives as a result of their actions,” he writes, and puts the U.S. government on notice: “You simply can’t be trusted.” Moore offers advice to those of us who see something wrong with Assange. “[A]ll I ask is that you not be naive about how the government works when it decides to go after its prey.” Right. Instead, you should be naïve about how government works when it decides to take control of your health care, regulate your business, and spend your earnings. Moore, you may have forgotten, calls for the U.S. government to provide “free, universal health care for life” for “every resident of the United States” and demands that “pharmaceutical companies … be strictly regulated like a public utility.” That’s the old anti–Big Brother spirit.More at the link.
When men like Michael Moore are not calling for the government to be undermined and defied, they’re petitioning for it to chauffeur them to the movies, cook their meals, and tuck them into bed. One news cycle finds HBO’s Bill Maher telling America not to allow the government to inject “a disease into your arm” in the form of a vaccine and that “I don’t trust the government, especially with my health.” The next, he’s calling for “Medicare for all” and lamenting the absence of a fully government-run health-care system that would operate like the U.S. postal service.

Greek Anti-Austerity Protests Turn Violent

At NYT, "Anti-Austerity Protest in Greece Turns Violent": ATHENS — Thousands of Greeks took to the streets of the capital on Wednesday for a protest against a fresh wave of austerity measures which was marred by violence as a general strike brought international travel and public services to a standstill.
The walkout — Greece’s seventh general strike this year — grounded flights, kept ferries in ports, halted train services and shut down government offices and schools while leaving hospitals to operate on emergency staffing and causing a news blackout as journalists joined the action. Public transport was operating for most of the day to enable Athenians to attend demonstrations in the city center.
Around 20,000 people answered the call of unions representing civil servants, private sector workers and the Communist Party for three separate demonstrations. The rallies were mostly peaceful until the early afternoon, when self-styled anarchists broke off from the crowd and attacked the police with firebombs and chunks of stone torn up from sidewalks.
