The Quote of the Decade:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Talking vs. Doing...............from Rico
People...both Americans and EUropeans...are slowly coming to understand that there is a vast difference between 'talking' and 'doing.'
While O-Barry and Merkozy, et al flap their gums and gas endlessly, nothing...I say again NOTHING...is getting 'done.'
- Well, unless you consider being 'talked to death' an accomplishment.
Greece cannot be 'saved' from itself. Not by anyone else, not Merkel, not Sarkozy, and not the EU combined.
- If they are not already printing Drachma's, then the progeny of Aristotle is brain-dead.
The cancellation of this Wodenstag's "summit" is just one more admission that the 'solution' to the Greek problem cannot be either agreed-upon, or reached, or even attainable.
- This is SO bad, it cannot be fixed.
Forget Greece, and the PIIGS. It will now be all about PIIS.
- Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Spain.
EUropa will be having it's "golden shower" moment imminently.
- Got Gold?
It beats PIIS!

Global Warming: An Obituary
The October 25th edition of The Wall Street Journal sports an editorial titled “The Post-Global Warming World” commenting on the fact that the 17th annual United Nations-sponsored climate change conference in November is likely to be an even greater flop than recent ones. Few, if any, nations will sign on to the huge hoax of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) to save the world from burning to a crisp.Considering the long years of media-driven drivel about global warming, the hoax should have been over by now, given the exposure in 2009 of thousands of emails between the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) conspirators an growing body of evidence that everything they asserted was a great steaming pile of horse manure.

Conflict of Interest...........from Rico
Let's talk about the ETF [SLV] and Silver manipulation.....and a little thing called "conflict of interest."
JP Morgan is THE World's largest short-seller of Silver.
JP Morgan is THE custodian for the World's largest 'long' Silver fund [SLV].
If holders of SLV make a profit, JPM suffers losses on its "short" positions.
Thus, JPM has a HUGE incentive and vested-interest to try and ensure that holders of SLV make as little as possible.
Can you say "conflict of interest?"
- I knew you could!

Sorry, been AWOL....from Rico
Sorry to some of you, for I have been AWOL for a few days and am woefully 'behind' answering some e-mails/communications as a result.
While my Pappy often liked to say "No excuses" here is mine, and it's not a bad one...but YOU decide.
[Backstory: When I 'discovered' this backwater in NC where the Snow Bird, Tusquittee, Blue Ridge, and Appalachian mountain chains intersect I half-expected to run into Opey, Andy, and Aunt Bea. What I did NOT expect to find was a homeless problem. In the course of getting to know some of the directors of the Cherokee County homeless shelter some years back, I learned it was the ONLY such shelter between Atlanta, GA and Knoxville, KY, and Chattanooga, TN and Asheville, NC. I've been an annual supporter of their effort ever since.]
Through a local friend (from Florida) I recently heard about this 'new' shelter in neighboring Clay County being run by a small group and headed by a Key West, FL 'refugee' a.k.a. a fellow-Floridian. It specializes in homeless women, and women with children. Their brochure is attached.
(No jokes about the shtik Sam Kinison had about establishing "home for interesting women" guys! This is a legitimate operation.)
Take away: I have been helping their annual fund-raising effort, as I think it a very worthy cause.
In a week or two I'll have more free time, and can return to the pursuit of smoking my own babyback ribs, and maybe 'experimenting' with smoking some thick-cut bacon I had the butcher slice for me....put another way, useless idleness a.k.a. being retired.
