The rumours last week of a possible $3,000 tax credit for hiring employees made me pause and think a minute.
Exactly WHAT does it say about our Congress that they are willing to pay me $8,000 to buy a house, and $4,500 to buy a car...but only $3,000 to hire someone?
The stupidity of Congress (both sides of the aisle) is breathtaking.

BO Gets the CME Award!
NASHVILLE - President Barack Obama stunned the country music world today
by picking up its highest honor, Country Music Entertainer of the Year.
Mr. Obama was chosen unanimously, according to the Country Music
Association, beating out such favorite as Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith.
In Nashville, country music insiders were shocked by Mr. Obama's
selection, given that he has only been in office for eight months and
during that time has yet to record a single country song.
But Mr. Obama was gracious in receiving the honor, saying that he was
"honored and humbled" by the award before excusing himself to accept
this year's Heisman Trophy after having watched two football games.

Worse than the 70's?..............from Rico
Oh yeah, it WILL be worse than the 70's!
Right now, the problem is deflation. It may remain the problem for years. Whenever it stops, the NEXT problem will be inflation...and it WILL be worse than the 1970's.
Jim Rogers [a really smart fella, smart enough to once be Soros's business partner and even smarter to be his ex-business partner] opines that given the Fed's extremely "easy" policies, runaway Gov't spending, looming shortages of commodities, etc...there will be some serious future inflation. We will be paying more for everything in the future (and paying with dollars that are worth less).
Way cool. Just like Obama won "Firearms Salesman of the Year" so will he 'win' the economic "Darwin Award" for the "Change" he was able to wreak upon both the US and the Global economy.
I remember stagflation, disco, the 'misery index'...and even worse, Jimmy Carter. Our "Dear Reader" Obama has them ALL beat for being worthless, dismal, and abjectly depressing.

Just TWO things.........from Rico
Despite all the gassing-on and bloviating about 'recovery' and 'it's technically over' plus the 'strong dollar' humbug emanating from Larry Summers (has this guy EVER been right about anything in his entire life? Name one thing...please), the two charts tell me TWO simple things.
1. The dollar is on a downward trend. Short-term AND long-term this has been the case. I do not see this mis-administration listening to Larry Kudlow and doing anything to "CHANGE" this. A weak dollar is defacto policy...it's just not a stated-policy. As long as Benny the Beard (the Fed) keep interest rates near zero, nothing can be done to rescue the dollar.
- Gold has doubled in the last four years. Where will it be in four more years?
- The dollar has 'lost' over 90% of it's value since Nixon. What will it be worth when Obama gets done with it? [Doubt me? Track the DXY:IND like I have, and let's discuss it.]
2. The Fed tends to raise interest rates well after unemployment peaks. Unemployment has not yet peaked. It will be several more years (2011? 2012?) before the Fed and the FOMC dare raise interest rates.
Take-away: The dollar is in serious trouble for the next few years. We're in even more serious trouble for longer than that. "HOPE" all you want, it won't "CHANGE" a damned thing....not for the good, anyway.

Actively destroying the dollar............from Rico
It was only days ago that TurboTax Timmy was leading the Greek chorus in the media singing that "the US was for a strong Dollar."
He lied. This is nothing new for the current administration which routinely says one thing yet means another, at least if you compare the 'words' with the 'actions.'
Gee, it's shocking isn't it..I mean to think that our Government would blatantly and wittingly LIE to our faces?
- I guess it was for our own good, or for the children, or something like that...whatever the Politburo or the DNC decided it was 'for' that day. So, all better now, right?
Consider:
The Fed is actively destroying the dollar.
From Aug 21 to Aug 28, the US increased its position in IMF SDR's by 500%.
- This increased the value of the other currencies in the IMF SDR 'basket' (The Euro, the Japanese Yen, the Pound Sterling) and decreased the value of the US Dollar.
This was a direct dollar-adverse intervention intended to decrease the value of the dollar, and it explains why (a) the DXY has been on a downward slope since, and (b) why other Central Banks are running away from the dollar.
But WHY?
- This is a crystal clear message of the administration's/the government's forward intentions vis the dollar, the stock market, and USG bonds. The dollar has been thrown under the well-used administration's bus to save the bonds (they're needed to palm-off the US debt, which can then be paid-back with devalued dollars).
Now think about this:
All Americans just took a haircut on the value of their dollar earnings and holdings, and the barbering will continue until the sheeple are shorn clean.
- This is 'better' than an overt tax because it's hidden under the radar and no one is likely to figure out who needs to be strung up for this drive-by shooting of the dollar.
It makes me wonder "if" Larry Summers talks in his sleep at those meetings in the White House...excuse me Casa Rojas.

On this date in 1864 Confederate partisan cavalry leader John Mosby raided Harpers Ferry, a culmination of the Shenandoah campaign of 1864.
Part of the shared lineage of the U.S. Army's 75th Ranger Regiment and the 1st Special Forces Regiment, Colonel Mosby and his Confederate Rangers were formally chartered by the Confederate government to conduct unconventional warfare.
