The five stages to the Banana Republic of America can be seen there.
1. Continue to borrow to keep the party going. Politicians pretend they're serious about curing spending and debt...but only to kick the can further down the road...just past their tenure and/or next re-election.
2. INFLATION. Difficulst to feed your family and gas-up the car?
3. Austerity. Promises made will not be kept. Cannot be kept. Services and benefits/entitlements cut back.
4. Economic cannibalism. The Gov't sells-off assets and steals the wealth of its citizens (confiscatory taxes, pensions forced into worthless Gov't bonds). Selling bridges, roads, historic landmarks to 'buy' time from creditors.
5. DEFAULT. Debt cannot be paid back. Game over. Whether RESET or AMF, at some point martial law is imposed.

The 'next' wave of financial crisis won't involve Banks going belly-up, but entire Countries.
Q: What happens when systemic insolvency and public outrage meet?
A: Look at Greece for a clue. *

A silent death............from Rico

For decades now, the Middle Class has been slowly dying from a stealth indebtedness and impoverishment. A silent death, if you will. A death induced by debt.

Look at the debt-to-income graph attached.

The symptoms have been largely papered-over until recently with access TO, and use OF, DEBT.
- As American industries and jobs were shipped overseas while we "globalized" [read: outsourced good jobs for cheaper labor and higher corporate profits], mortgage debt, auto loan debt, credit card debt, student loan debt was 'sold' to us as a convenient access to wealth and the 'good life.'
Everyone ignored the fact that DEBT is not WEALTH.

What do we have today?
- double-digit real unemployment (ignore the planet perception, phoney-baloney 'offishul' numbers of +9%....it's more like 22-23% here on planet reality)
- 23 million under-employed
- one-in-three has NO savings
- 50% cannot scrape together $2,000 within 30 days if they needed to
- 45 million existing on Food Stamps
- We won't discuss the debasement/devaluation of the US Dollar here (that'd be too depressing)

Yep, the "feel good" times that began in the 1980's were completely phoney. The party is now over.

When people figure out that fake prosperity = negative net worth, the proverbial S will HTF.
- Much like the "phoney war" (also called the 'sitzkrieg') preceeded the real carnage of WWII ushered in by the blitzkrieg, so will it be when more people wake up to what george Carlin was saying years ago...the REAL American dream has been shafted.
