Obama’s Relapse................by Dan Friedman
It’s been a little over a week since the Obama-Israel rapprochement, but those hoping it would last will be sorely disappointed. When it comes to Israel, it’s back to business as usual for BHO. Defense Secretary Panetta just landed there and when they unloaded his baggage the Israelis found the same old bag of tricks: coercion, warnings, and “daylight” between the Jewish state and Obama’s side.
It’s doubtful whether Obama’s swift reversion to type is enough to give the Reform rabbis and Ed Kochs of the world another mood swing. But more important, I’d like to think Israelis are tired of being whipsawed by this condescending president and have finally woken up.

Biden Catches a Spear For Obama.................by Dan Friedman
A story broke during Rosh Hashana that many Jews may have missed. In a nutshell, the NYT* revealed Joe Biden went down to Florida to stroke the Jewish sheep and ask them to go quietly into Obama’s abattoir in the coming election. Biden even brought the Jews a burnt offering – himself. When one of the rabbis present screwed up his courage and asked why Obama had yet to release Jonathan Pollard, the VP replied Obama favored Pollard’s early release but he was dead set against it, putting the kibosh on the idea.
This is a yarn spun by the White House to turn Biden into Obama’s fall guy and take the heat (such as it is) off the president. Better to collect your checks, Jews. Not surprisingly, the story has dried up over here, but in Israel it still has legs. For a sampling of news and views over there, click here, here and here.
