Misconception. Myth.............from Rico

There is a common misconception, almost an urban myth, that the older ones are more 'well off' than the rest.

The numbers do not bear this out. Quite the opposite in fact.

Without getting into the sad statistics of how many 'boomers' never bothered to save a dime for retirement, consider that the
median income for those age 65 and over is $19,167.

The attached presages a 'new' motivational poster reportedly being planned for the Federal Agency formerly-known-as DOJ (Department of Justice), which under Eric [remember Elian Gonzalez?] Holder has become the DOiJ (Department of inJustice).

Swell.

Providing military-grade weapons to Mexican drug cartels sounds about as "just" as Corzine's MF Global 'vaporizing" $1.2 bn of client money is.
[the euphamism 'vaporizing' sounds so much better than 'stealing' doesn't it? It's like 'sociopath' and 'psychopath' mean the same thing, but many would argue that one sounds nicer than the other]
- Neither of them will do hard jail time since they are protected by their pal Barry, the arch-criminal of the day. Instead Jon C. recently went shopping for a french Chateau, while one wonders if Eric has an option on the Northern half of Mexico...or maybe the whole enchilada.

Generations, echoes............from Rico

Generations define themselves. Not by what they 'say' but rather by what they 'do.'

Look at this graph courtesy of the FED. Look closely.
- I see the generational 'change' from The Greatest Generation that was running things 1940-50-60 (until about when we "lost" JFK), then I can see what I call The Dumbass Generation managed to do, and the result is today in 2012 where we see the cusp of The Foodstamp Generation.

And not least, as our feckless politicians complete the transition from 'spend' to 'tax and spend' to 'borrow and tax and spend' to just 'borrow everything we spend and tax even more' (as if more of the same will somehow make things all better) while throwing money down the black hole of das Hopenchange (that great Socialist fantasy of The Dumbass Generation) I hear a peculiar "echo" which is captured perfectly in this cartoon from 1932.
- If history does not repeat exactly, it sure as Hell is rhyming pretty well!
