Obama Will Not Release bin Laden Photos
Wednesday, May 4, 2011
President Barack Obama said in a taped interview with “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft that he has decided not to release photos of Osama bin Laden taken after he was killed, CBS News reports.
-- Politico.com
Of course he won't do that. He WANTS the speculation to continue regarding whether bin Laden was "really" killed or not. He does NOT WANT to give Americans any closure, to know that the perpetrator of 9/11 is truly dead.
Though unconfirmed, Special Operations insiders believe that the mission was already under way before Obama was informed of it in order to ensure that this "high value target" was not permitted to get away. True or not, why would Obama, as asserted, have to "sleep on it" to make the decision to proceed? The truth of what occurred will not be known until Obama is long gone out of office and surely not while he is campaigning to be reelected.
Alan Dershowitz Tries The Wrong Case..............by Dan Friedman
Alan Dershowitz, Obama supporter and America’s favorite “defender of Israel,” has just issued his ruling on “targeted assassinations” in the wake of Obama’s Osama hit, and uses it to make a point about the Jewish state.
“So let the world stop applying a double standard to Israel and let it start judging the merits and demerits of military tactics such as targeted killing. On balance, targeted killing, when used prudently against proper military targets, can be an effective, lawful, and moral tool in the war against terrorism.”
There’s no problem with that, except Dershowitz, as he does often, is harvesting low hanging fruit while ducking the thorny issue of the propriety of rendition, waterboarding and other “harsh interrogation” techniques which, years after Obama banned them, made the targeted killing in question possible.
In the past, Dershowitz has taken an equivocating position on the matter, creating an improbable, corny Hollywood “ticking-bomb” scenario in which he might condone “torture,” or least understand its use. Of course, even that tentative mumbo jumbo came before Obama was president. In fact, the context was an “advice column” to the Democrats warning his party not be seen as national security wimps in the upcoming 2008 election. Now that Dershowitz’s man has occupied the White House and the President’s first clear-cut political victory is the product of outlawed Bush-era interrogations, I wonder what, if anything, the liberal legal eagle will have to say – leaving Israel aside.

Banging.............from Rico
Spot precious metals (bullion) prices USED to be considered a price discovery system of the market. No longer, now it is widely seen as something that can be "gamed."
Take a look at the second consecutive day of "banging the close" in the silver spot markets. When the market is essentially 'asleep' about 6-7 pm Eastern Time, there is almost NO trading volume and trading is very thin.
- A motivated seller with no volume or other traders to deal with can 'take down' the price in very short order.
This used to be 'illegal' and people used to go to jail for it. Not any more. Not with the gangsters running Wall Street and Washington.
Now it is seen as a good way to make quick money (or "doing God's work" as lloyd Blankfein once famously put it...I'd actually phrase it as carrying water for Blythe masters and Jamie Dimon, myself).
So what?
This what.
I see a huge bifurcation coming between the notional (paper) spot bullion prices and the prices of physical bullion.
- Paper spot could be, say $25 for silver while the cost to hold the physical stuff could be $75.
Far fetched?
- As I write this, COMEX (a.k.a. CRIMEX) spot silver is around $40.98/oz, and the retail cost to buy a 1oz Silver Eagle is well over 'spot' at $$48.40. This is why the premium to NAV (net asset value), that is to say the extra you pay to own a unit of Eric Sprott's PSLV (Physical Silver Trust, backed by physical bullion) is running around 14% versus the i-Shares SLV (paper-backed, there is NO physical inventory) that JP Morgue and Blythe are peddling.
Supply-demand.
- Silver, physical silver, is in a classic supply-demand situation right now. There is more demand for it (think industrial, think your flat screen TV or I-phone) than there is supply of it.
- There is an infinite supply of paper.
Pick one. The red pill, or the blue pill.
