Random Thoughts...........from Marshall
> The Duke lacrosse case is still active; you just don't hear a lot about it anymore since the media lost interest. The hoax no longer fit the media template of what is important, mainly a lot of white-bashing, and beating up on nice kids from good families. The big media left walked away long ago but they can't get rid of it.
I read a while back that the insurance company does not want to pay the damage suits to the players, contending (correctly) that the school administrators deliberately slandered the lacrosse players and that the school, not the insurance company, should have to pay the players. I'm no fan of insurance companies but I agree with them on this one. They are generally ahead of the Duke faculty. We have the medialeft and the faculty left, don't we.
> Democrats never admit tax cuts produce more tax revenue. Stimulated growth does the trick every time. Democrats claim to care about balancing budgets and say they have to raise taxes to do so. They won't admit that spending (THEIR spending), not tax cuts, ran up the 1980s budget deficit.

> Have you ever heard of a town having its zip code revoked by the U.S. Postal Service ? It happened to Centralia, Pennsylvania in 1992.
Zip Code 17927 was revoked because of a coal mine fire underground, smoldering since 1962, causing the town to be abandoned, a modern day ghost town.
By 2005 the town was down to 11 residents, having contained a population of more than 1,000 as recently as 1981. Centralia, once a prosperous coal town, is now a ghost town, a dangerous place to even walk around. Cave-ins now occur there and grass grows all winter in super cold Pennsylvania because of the always warm-to hot ground surface in Centralia. Now we know why........
A long time ago, the British and French were at war.
During one battle, the French captured an English major.
They took the major to their headquarters and a French general began to question him.
The French general asked: 'Why do you English officers all wear red coats?
Don't you know the red material makes you easy targets for us to shoot?'
In his debonair English way, the major informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't show, and the men they are leading won't panic.
And that is why from that day to now, all French army officers wear brown pants.

Let me get this straight.....

We're going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he
doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts
themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn't read it, and who smokes,
with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by
a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.
What possibly could go wrong?

A breathtaking "say what?"............from Rico
The rumours last week of a possible $3,000 tax credit for hiring employees made me pause and think a minute.
Exactly WHAT does it say about our Congress that they are willing to pay me $8,000 to buy a house, and $4,500 to buy a car...but only $3,000 to hire someone?
The stupidity of Congress (both sides of the aisle) is breathtaking.

BO Gets the CME Award!
NASHVILLE - President Barack Obama stunned the country music world today
by picking up its highest honor, Country Music Entertainer of the Year.
Mr. Obama was chosen unanimously, according to the Country Music
Association, beating out such favorite as Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith.
In Nashville, country music insiders were shocked by Mr. Obama's
selection, given that he has only been in office for eight months and
during that time has yet to record a single country song.
But Mr. Obama was gracious in receiving the honor, saying that he was
"honored and humbled" by the award before excusing himself to accept
this year's Heisman Trophy after having watched two football games.

Worse than the 70's?..............from Rico
Oh yeah, it WILL be worse than the 70's!
Right now, the problem is deflation. It may remain the problem for years. Whenever it stops, the NEXT problem will be inflation...and it WILL be worse than the 1970's.
Jim Rogers [a really smart fella, smart enough to once be Soros's business partner and even smarter to be his ex-business partner] opines that given the Fed's extremely "easy" policies, runaway Gov't spending, looming shortages of commodities, etc...there will be some serious future inflation. We will be paying more for everything in the future (and paying with dollars that are worth less).
Way cool. Just like Obama won "Firearms Salesman of the Year" so will he 'win' the economic "Darwin Award" for the "Change" he was able to wreak upon both the US and the Global economy.
I remember stagflation, disco, the 'misery index'...and even worse, Jimmy Carter. Our "Dear Reader" Obama has them ALL beat for being worthless, dismal, and abjectly depressing.
