It's pretty hard even for our very talented magicians...er, politicians to hide the massive debt and out-of-control spending [read: borrowing] in plain sight.
- The only HOPE they have right now is that "the great unwashed" is too abysmally stoopid to understand what all those zeros and commas actually mean...or that our children's children's futures are being hocked today to buy them more votes and a little more time to get out of Dodge and retire before the entire Ponzi-house of cards collapses in future.
Who even 'noticed' the recent unemplyment "revision" of almost a million more jobs (lost) than they had 'thought' in this era of trillions?
Thus, the "flight to safety" in the US Dollar illustrates the ignorance of the day. Worry about Greece and Spain, but ignore California and Michigan. BUY BONDS and PAY TAXES, why it's your patriotic duty (hat tip to possibly one of the dumbest former members of Congress, Joe Biden who graciously left, thereby bestowing the "complete idiot dunce hat" to Pelosi-Reid-Fwank to vie for).
- But it ignores the fact that a 1913 Dollar is worth about a 2010 nickel (five cents for those who attended school since Jimmy Carter created the federal Dept of Education).
The S&P is overvalued by about 100% if you look seriously at what the earnings justify.
- But we ignore the fact that the S&P is heading towards a drop and it is probably time to SELL equities....especially dollar-denominated equities. And IF you followed the conventional wisdom and the advice of your money-manager, you lost your butts over the last decade by diversifying among the major asset classes (you do NOT want to think about how much more you "lost" from inflation).
Oh yeah, print me up some 'fresh' steaming greenbacks Benny. I can't wait to become gloriously "rich" with pretend monopoly money!

In looking at this chart, not having 'found' where Kahlifohnia was, I can only conclude that as a 'thenthitive' Left-coast entity they did not want to cast a shadow upon anyone else.
Nice of them, but the numbers all seem to indicate that they are ahead of New York state in the liberal race-to-preindustrial living standards.
FALLEN HERO
Specialist Kyle J. Wright was a third-generation soldier. “Kyle was a better man than me when I was 22, and was well on his way to being a better man than I am today,” said his father Richard Wright, who was a combat medic with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Kyle was killed in action 13 January 2010 when his Stryker vehicle drove over an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

The latest "Presence of guns can increase risk of death" screed comes from the Southern Medical Journal, with the latest attempt of supposed medical academics to meddle in politics.
In 1986, Arthur Kellerman conducted a firearms study that claimed a firearm in the home is 43 times more likely to kill a family member than an intruder. Later, Kellerman admitted that his study did "not include cases in which burglars or intruders are wounded or frightened away by the use or display of a firearm." He also admitted his study did not look at situations in which intruders "purposely avoided a home known to be armed." Meanwhile, this same Arthur Kellerman was quoted in Health Magazine (March/April 1994) p 61 as having said the following:

Passport Application..........
Dear Minister,
I'm in the process of renewing my passport but I am a total loss to understand or believe the hoops I am being asked to jump through.
How is it that Bert Smith of T.V. Rentals Basingstoke has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a satellite dish from them back in 1994, and yet, the Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date?
How come that nice West African immigrant chappy who comes round every Thursday night with his DVD rentals van can tell me every film or video I have had out since he started his business up eleven years ago, yet you still want me to remind you of my last three jobs, two of which were with contractors working for the government?
How come the T.V. detector van can tell if my T.V. is on, what channel I am watching and whether I have paid my licence or not, and yet if I win the government run lottery they have no idea I have won or where I am and will keep the bloody money to themselves if I fail to claim in good time.
Do you people do this by hand?
You have my birth date on numerous files you hold on me, including the one with all the income tax forms I've filed for the past 30-odd years. It's on my health insurance card, my driver's licence, on the last four passports I've had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I've had to fill out before being allowed off the planes and boats over the last 30 years, and all those insufferable census forms that are done every ten years and the electoral registration forms I have to complete, by law, every time our lords and masters are up for re-election.
Would somebody please take note, once and for all, I was born in Maidenhead on the 4th of March 1957, my mother's name is Mary, her maiden name was Reynolds, my father's name is Robert, and I'd be absolutely astounded if that ever changed between now and the day I die!
I apologise Minister. I'm obviously not myself this morning. But between you and me, I have simply had enough! You mail the application to my house, then you ask me for my address. What is going on? Do you have a gang of Neanderthals working there? Look at my damn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I don't want to activate the Fifth Reich for God's sake! I just want to go and park my weary backside on a sunny, sandy beach for a couple of week's well-earned rest away from all this crap.
Well, I have to go now, because I have to go to back to Salisbury and get another copy of my birth certificate because you lost the last one. AND to the tune of 60 quid! What a racket THAT is!! Would it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot to assist in the issuance of a new passport the same day? But nooooo, that'd be too damn easy and maybe make sense. You'd rather have us running all over the place like chickens with our heads cut off, then find some tosser to confirm that it's really me on the goddamn picture - you know... the one where we're not allowed to smile in in case we look as if we are enjoying the process!

I served in the armed forces for more than 25 years including over ten years at the Ministry of Defence in London.
I have had security clearances which allowed me to sit in the Cabinet Office, five seats away from the Prime Minister while he was being briefed on the first Gulf War and I have been doing volunteer work for the British Red Cross ever since I left the Services. However, I have to get someone 'important' to verify who I am -- you know, someone like my doctor...who, before he got his medical degree 6 months ago WAS LIVING IN PAKISTAN...

VBS TV: Illegal Border Crossing Park
The Mexican town of El Alberto lies 800 miles south of the US border in the state of Hidalgo. It’s pretty much like any other town of 3,000 people, except in El Alberto they offer tourists the chance to participate in a simulated illegal border crossing. It all happens at a standard recreational park with swimming pools, river trips, zip lines, and the other typical fare. We took a few cameras and headed for the EcoAlberto Park to spend some late-nights running through underground tunnels on the heels of our personal “Coyote” while being chased by border patrol. While we were there, we crashed a quinceñera party and saw El Alberto from the perspective of the locals. We find that when Mexicans cross the border to pursue the “American Dream,” their real aim is to bring a slice of the pie back home to Mexico. And so they do, provided they can run fast enough.
