Fiat follies.................from Rico
The folly of Keynes and fiat money is playing out before us now.
The FDIC is broke.
Fannie and Freddie are racing one-another to lose as much money as possible.
State governments are sinking fast.
Cities and towns are going broke.
There are few 'healthy' CRE loans in existence.
Ben continues to print money almost as fast as our politicians can spend it.
I have very little doubt (looking at US debt-to-GDP) that following the Euro and the Pound Sterling the Greenback will be next.....
Followers of Hayek and the Austrian school of economics understand that cold-hard-cash is not fiat paper 'promises' to pay.

Declaration of Tea Party Independence: a re-interpretation...
DECLARATION OF TEA PARTY INDEPENDENCE
For much of its history, the United States has been a land of prosperity and liberty. Sound policies such as fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and a belief in the free market have safeguarded this condition.
In recent years, however, Congress, the White House, the Federal Reserve Board, and the court system have replaced those practices with profligate government spending and expansion of the government power beyond what is constitutionally permissible via government control of banks, the auto industry, and other large sectors of the economy.
This course, if not reversed, can only lead to economic collapse and tyranny.
Therefore, Individuals acting through the Tea Party movement seek to reinstate policies which are proven to safeguard liberty and prosperity for all. We will organize, demonstrate and vote until this restoration has been achieved. We will stay focused on this goal and remain INDEPENDENT from any persons or political parties who seek to distract us from this end.
And for the support of this Declaration, we the Undersigned mutually pledge to each other our tireless Effort, our sense of Urgency, and a trust in the power of our combined Voices.
More on this here, Matt has kindly adopted my idea of printing this out and having people sign it to display at events or in public places.

Redneck Engeering Exam.........
1. Calculate the smallest limb diameter on a persimmon tree that will support a 10 pound possum.
2. Which of the following cars will rust out the quickest when placed on blocks in your front yard?
a) '66 Ford Fairlane
b) '69 Chevrolet Chevelle
c) '64 Pontiac GTO
3. If your uncle builds a still that operates at a capacity of 20 gallons of shine per hour, how many car radiators are necessary to condense the product?
4. A pulpwood cutter has chain saw that operates at 2700 rpm. The density of the pine trees in a plot to be harvested is 470 per acre. The lot is 2.3 acres in size. The average tree diameter is 14 inches. How many Budweiser Tall-Boys will it take to cut the trees?
5. If every old refrigerator in the state vented a charge of R-12 simultaneously, what would be the decrease in the ozone layer?
6. A front porch is constructed of 2x8 pine on 24-inch centers with a field rock foundation. The span is 8 feet and the porch length is 16 feet. The porch floor is 1 inch rough sawn pine. When the porch collapses, how many hound dogs will be killed?
7. A man owns a house and 3.7 acres of land in a hollow with an average slope of 15%. The man has 5 children. Can each of the children place a mobile home on the man's land?
8. A 2-ton pulpwood truck is overloaded and proceeding down a steep grade on a secondary road at 45 mph. The brakes fail. Given the average traffic loading of secondary roads, how many people will swerve to avoid the truck before it crashes at the bottom of the mountain? For extra credit, how many of the vehicles that swerved will have mufflers and uncracked windshields?
9. A Coal Mine operates a NFPA Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Area. The mine employs 120 miners per shift. A gas warning is issued at the beginning of 3rd shift.
How many cartons of unfiltered Camels will be smoked during the shift?
10. How many generations will it take before cattle develop two legs shorter than the others because of grazing along a mountainside?

Bowling for Change..........from Rico
Ok, yeah...my slug line [Bowling for Change] is a blatant thumb-in-the-eye of that fat Commie-loving ass who made the film "Bowling for Columbine" (among other films insulting to sentient life forms and wet rocks).
Looking at the graphic of 'Left Coast' America made me mindful of a truly GREAT film by the Coen brothers..."The Big Lebowski" and the Newport Beach Sheriff scene Treehorn draws a lot of water...etc).
- Yup! Newport Beach has an average per capita income (PCI) of $86,586.
- Compare that to the US average PCI of $27,589.
Enough of the 'rest' of the US wanted "change" ....well it is here. Look at the sign on the factory gate. Now you "hope" it will go away. Shmuks!
- You're looking at a NO PCI future (unemployment), or one that is vastly reduced by Carteresque stagflation, or a hyper-inflated Mugabe-Zimbabwean lifestyle.
Good luck, suckers. If you don't throw the bums OUT at the polls this Fall, you deserve whatever you get.

British Cyclist Deliberately Run Over in Saudi Arabia
A British man has been killed after youths allegedly rammed a car into a group of friends who were cycling in Saudi Arabia.
John Currie, who worked for BAE Systems – formerly British Aerospace – is believed to have been one four cyclists who started being "cut up" by local youths in two cars on a main road on the outskirts of Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
Initially, it is understood that one of the cars clipped a cyclist causing him to fall off his bike. Then, however, one of the drivers is alleged to have turned around and deliberately ploughed his car into the cyclists...

How to enjoy..........from Rico
Economists are clueless, but average people KNOW (a) how hard it is to find work, and (b) what is really going on.
If you're in the construction trades, or only have a year or two of college....you're out of luck. You may have to "retire" before you ever get back to work.
Household incomes have gone nowhere in the last decade.
Stocks, too, have had a "lost" decade.
Stimuless, didn't do squat for job creation or anything else (save make the payments on a 20-something Wall Street hot-shot's Ferrari and maybe Jamie Dimon's humble hacienda; Vikram Pandit just didn't pay for a few months).
Ben 'the Beard' says "be careful" ...the 'recovery' is not such a sure thing. Timmy ain't talking.
So. How do you enjoy a depression?
- Make sure that you are not in its way.
