Paying for the funeral...........from Rico
We may be at the endpoint...the "endgame" of Keynesian Economics [read: Ponzi].
The "Diminishing Marginal Productivity of Debt" may not mean much to most...suffice it to say this is BAD NEWS writ large.
We all are going to have to pay for the funeral (thanks Congress), and adding insult to injury we'll have to live with the unhappy aftermath.

Unconventional Weaponry LXIX

LOLZ!
Oh the humanity!
Palestine's Holocaust Of The Week - created by Little Satan - revolves around the 7th century concept of 'honor" (note - 'honor' in a crunk and disorderly hood like Arab League seems to lie betwixt a grrl's legs).
Rowdy suspect rejectionist, intolerant Palestinians have been phot'd en flagrente (spiritually please) in a helpless, shamefully honor free, powerless sitch, while a hot! conscript voltiguerre ala femme exhibits total control and power.
Perhaps Little Satan should offer some of those new clear piggy ciggies or sexed up bubblegum in a fun, free exchange to snatch hot! intell on Palestine's Panty Police

Sixteen reasons why airplanes are easier to live with than women:
1) Airplanes usually kill you quickly – a woman takes her time.
2) Airplanes can be turned on by a flick of a switch.
3) Airplanes don’t get mad if you do a “touch and go.”
4) Airplanes don’t object to a pre-flight inspection.
5) Airplanes come with manuals to explain their operation.
6) Airplanes have strict weight and balance limitations.
7) Airplanes can be flown any time of the month.
8) Airplanes don’t come with in-laws.
9) Airplanes don’t care about how many other airplanes you’ve flown before.
10) Airplanes and pilots both arrive at the same time.
11) Airplanes don’t mind if you look at other airplanes.
12) Airplanes don’t mind if you buy airplane magazines.
13) Airplanes expect to be tied down.
14) Airplanes don’t comment on your piloting skills.
15) Airplanes don’t whine unless something is really wrong.
16) However, when airplanes go quiet, just like women, it’s usually not good

1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Convertible Concept Car
After spending decades as a collection of parts stuffed into wooden crates – the F-88 was reassembled.
In 1954 – the F-88 was a Motorama “Dream Car” and was one of only two – or an unconfirmed possible three ever created. The F-88 seen here is literally the only car left of its kind – and was sold to John and Maureen Hendricks at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona for an unbelievable $3,240,000. This acquisition made automotive history and is the “cornerstone” of the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum in its own special room in a rotating display worthy of the F-88!

VBS TV: The Oregon Fire Lines Part 2
'In part 2 we take to the hills with shovel and chainsaw. The crew digs a fire line through the underbrush to demonstrate their technique for applying a proper choke-out on a forest fire. The guys even let Thomas play firefighter with a saw and pick axe, and explain why a good chainsaw wound to the body is one of the gnarliest things you’ll ever see.'

More "recovery" spin............from Rico
I listened to the "news" today that said: July's total housing starts were UP 1.7%. Swell. July's 546,000 housing starts were UP from June's 537,000. Happy days! Good news, eh?
We're getting better. Rejoice Comrades! This news is double-plus good!!!
The ONLY problem is it's a LIE!!
The 'official' number that was originally anounced was 549,000 last June. Had the number not been quietly 'revised' downward to 537,000 later, we would have had 'bad' news today of a DROP in housing starts. Only 3,000 units...but negative news is not allowed, so instead we have a minor INCREASE thanks to the magical mathematics of officialdom.
Along with neglecting to inform us of June's 'official' numbers versus July's 'official numbers, the mildly bothersome fact that the July 2009 number was [drumroll] 587,000 was ignored.
- Also ignored in magic unicorn land was the administration's 'expectation' that this July's number would be around 565,000. Oooooopsie!
Ya just gotta love the 'official' crap we're being fed on a regular basis these days.

'Israel Is a Bulwark. If Israel Wasn't There You Have No Idea How Much Evil Would Be Unleashed On the World'
That's a key quote from Pamela's lecture last night. She actually prefaced that by saying "You have no idea how much terrorism Israel absorbs" from the Middle East, thus providing the West with a bit of under-appreciated inoculation from Jihad. This was an extremely interesting point. I was really impressed with Robert Spencer's profound knowledge on the issues as well.

VBS TV: Oregon Fire Lines
'Whenever someone at our office bitches about being overworked, our stock response is “Beats digging ditches.” While the express intention of the statement is usually not-so-supportive, we think it’s a healthy reminder that at the end of the day, we are all basically professional emailers and should be thankful for such. The wildland firefighters who work for Grayback Forestry in Southern Oregon have no such motivational adages because their job is actually digging ditches. Around active forest fires. On the sides of mountains. You can’t even bitch at these guys for having cushy government pensions to fall back on when they get older, because they’re all private-sector contractors. Which means if they aren’t out fighting forest fires or doing preventative forestry on unburned woods (basically extreme landscaping), they are losing money. They are literally the hardest working men in tree business. We spent a few days following a crew of Grayback forest-firefighters walk up the sides of what most people would consider a cliff to chop down underbrush in preparation for a controlled burn. This is what they like to call “project work,” aka the light stuff in between fires, and yet it was still some of the hardest most least-rewarding work we have ever tried to do in our lives. Unless you consider 12-hour-plus shifts of backbreaking labor, virtually zero outside recognition, and occasional accusations of being shills for the timber industry rewards. Which we do not.'

The Semper Fi Moment
President Obama got off the helicopter in front of the White House, carrying a baby piglet under each arm.
The squared away Marine guard snaps to attention, salutes and says:"Nice pigs, sir."
The President replies: "These are not pigs... these are authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and I got one for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi."
The squared away Marine again snaps to attention, salutes and says, "Excellent trade, sir.”

Article: Weather or climate? It's a question of time
Recent news stories have raised the temperature of global warming rhetoric, comparing extreme weather events in Russia and Pakistan to Biblical predictions of planet-wide doom and a fear that even if mankind halted all industrial activity today it’d still be too late to save Earth from a fiery death.
The error of mistaking weather for climate might irritate careful scientists but makes for great headlines. Extreme weather events are bad for the people affected, but good for those driving an agenda like global warming.....continue reading

The Great Unwinding.............from Rico
Biden-the-vice-idiot called this "the summer of recovery."
We have already HAD The Great Depression.
Forget about double-dip, v, w, or any recovery whatsoever...what we are about to enjoy is what will be called THE GREAT UNWINDING.
The US CPI was stable for about 200 years. Then, from 1971 to 2010 the CPI increased by almost 500%.
- Virtually ALL growth has come from massive increases in credit [read: debt], rather than real growth in GDP.
- This is why the US debt-to-GDP is now 380% and rising.
Keynesian "Obamanomics" means we will spend the next 100 years 'unwinding' this debt.
- This is NOT the 1930's, but will be more like pre-industrial revolution 1700's soon.
--Real unemployment is about 22%.
--The financial system is bankrupt.
--Federal and State deficits are rising.
So what do YOU think it will be like when things get really bad?

Gates!
Hot sticky gossip ala FoPo Online in the Iview with Def Sec Gates.
Sec Gates admits he'll hang til we all "know whether the strategy is working in Afghanistan"
He also brought up 2012 Electile Dysfunction:
"...The point of all of that is I think that by next year I'll be in a position where, you know, we're going to know whether the strategy is working in Afghanistan. We'll have completed the surge. We'll have done the assessment in December. And it seems like somewhere there in 2011 is a logical opportunity to hand off.
"...I think that it would be a mistake to wait until January 2012. First of all, I think we might have trouble getting the kind of person they want if there's a possibility that they might only be in the job for a year. You know, who knows what the election situation will look like. But also I just think this is not the kind of job you want to fill in the spring of a presidential election. So I think sometime in 2011 sounds pretty good.
Surprisingly good Iview - considering the questioner Dr F. Kaplan's penchant for Great Satan hating.
