Obama Ends Operation Iraqi Freedom
I anticipated the president's address in my previous post, "President Barack Obama Claims Credit on Iraq War." I can't add too much here, except to reiterate that I'm ashamed at Obama's political posturing. I'm ashamed at Obama's political opportunism, and I wish for a larger purpose than this poor president can hope to provide for those who've sacrificed for a better Iraq and for a better future for the Iraqis. It's no surprise that America's servicemen and women share this disappointment in this president's abject leadership in wartime. See, "Troops Yet to Give Obama Full Salute."
See also Michelle, "Barack Obama on Iraq: Then and Now." Glenn Reynolds has a nice roundup of reactions: "What Obama Said About the Surge When it Mattered."
And more at New York Slimes and Memeorandum.

Naval Hook Up
Britannia Rules the Waves! And the French hang too! Both NATO cats are preparing to reveal unprecedented plans to share the use of their aircraft carriers in a controversial step to maintain military power in an era of cost-cutting.
"...In a potential threat to thousands of shipyard jobs, the move would make it easier for Britain to scrap or downgrade one of the two replacement carriers which are already under construction at a cost of £5.2billion.
"...David Cameron and President Sarkozy are expected to outline the proposal in a November summit, which will lead to British and French flagships working together and protecting the interests of both countries.

Did you notice?..............from Rico
Did you notice there were NO Bank closings last Friday?
- FDIC gave their employees Friday OFF to rest, for the balance of the year will be quite busy.
Of COURSE it is a coincidence that Benyamin Bernanke was hosting the FED's Jackson Hole symposium for his fellow Central Bankers and Economists.
It wouldn't do, or be PC, to humiliate the man on that day, would it now?

Weapons Training
Have you tried using a laser bullet for dry fire training? I just got one and tried it out. It's amazing that with no trip to the range, no ammunition, no noise, I can reacquire lightning fast point shooting skills
I can practice force on force shooting, and lots of different techniques; like how to respond to an intruder, what to do when there is a terror attack, and lots other scenarios.

The Laser-Ammo SureStrike allows any level of weapon user to practice totally safe marksmanship and handling drills with an actual weapon in any location, from the basement to the barracks. By pulling the trigger, the direct impact of the firing pin activates the SureStrike to emit a microprocessor controlled eye-safe laser pulse, a “shot” of red light, which simulates the point of impact where a bullet fired from the weapon would have struck.
It works in Pistols and Shotguns too.
