GOD UNDERSTANDS
A man was riding his Harley along a California beach, when suddenly the sky
cleared above his head and in a booming voice, the Lord said, 'Because you
have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.'
The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over
anytime I want.'
The Lord said, 'Your request is materialistic. Think of the enormous
challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the
bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take!
It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is
hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more
time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.'
The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, Lord, I wish
that I and all men could understand women; I want to know how she feels
inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she
cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and
complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.'
The Lord replied, 'You want two lanes or four lanes on that bridge?'

To Be or Not To Be, That Is Israel's Question...........by Dan Friedman
As of last week, the Jewish people’s welfare no longer resides in the weak hands of the Diaspora; it’s moved to the strong hands of Israel, where it was meant to be all along. After 63 years, Israel’s training wheels have finally come off, and more than at any point in the long lifeline of the Jewish people, Jews control their own fate. Israel is in all ways a powerful, modern Jewish state, and Jewry’s well-being no longer relies on an Abe Foxman press release, a statement from “the presidents,” or Dershowitz’s “defense.” Today, everything rests with a choice only Israelis can make: choose life and defy the Nations, or please the Nations and choose suicide. Thanks to Obama, we won’t have long to wait for Israel’s answer. He’s lit a fire under history, thrown a torch into a cave of slumbering bats, and Israel’s decision time is rushing at her faster than anyone imagined. That means most of us will be blessed to bear witness at the moment of truth, and if you’ve taken G-d’s side in this matter, I suggest both upright Jews and righteous gentiles offer our Creator a simple prayer:
Blessed are you G-d, King of the universe, who gives Your People Israel a mighty arm, and the will to use it.
Say that and G-d via His IDF will take care of the rest.

Updates on Congressman Anthony Weiner
I keep thinking the story's peaked, but something new comes up.
Rep. Weiner agreed of a series of media sit-downs to discuss the lewd photo sent on the congressman's Twitter feed. He's still denying the allegations. See: "Anthony Weiner Comes Clean!"
He hasn't come clean, but the questions aren't going away. Conservative bloggers are claiming vindication with the major media coverage, after progressives dissed the controversy over the weekend. (More at Memeorandum.)

[Today brings (at least) three warnings from veteran observers of Middle East affairs. If even only one of them is half right, the Middle East, and a large swath of the world beyond, are on course for very troubled times. In my mind, it’s only a question of timing. Can Obama hold the flood waters (and himself) back until the election in 20012? If he does and he wins, Obama and the Muslim world, will have no incentive to rein themselves in. df]
