Obama’s Demagoguery Another Loser in NY 9..............by Dan Friedman
Overlooked, or at least given short shrift, in the analysis of the Democrat’s stunning defeat in NY 9 has been the age of the average voter. It’s relatively high and the elderly make up an usually large percentage of the electorate in the district. The losing Democrat, David Weprin, tried to turn that to his advantage by incessantly “warning” that Republican ogres wanted to gut Social Security/Medicare benefits. Judging by the results, the tactic “flopped in spectacular fashion.” And if it won’t work there, it won’t work anywhere. That’s is more bad news for a floundering president who is using “Mediscare” as one pillar of his reelection strategy. It should also send a message to Republicans that there is a lot to be gained by doing what’s right, as long as they take the time to explain their policies to the American people.

Here's why!....................from Rico
This explains a LOT!
Have you ever wondered WHY complete idiots get elected to public office these days?
I think it's because the voters today are dumber than a box of wet rocks!
The US's SAT reading scores just set a new, historic, unprecedented, all-time low for 2011!
I call this the "no voter left behind" phenomenon. There are enough of them now to guarantee 'they' get the politicians they (not we) deserve.
PS - Thanks Dept of Edjucashun and Teachers Unions. U dunna gud yob....

Video: The Taking Tree
"We need more, Tree"... "Give us more, Tree"
What if our economy was a tree from which politicians could just take and take and take? When would they stop?
WOULD they stop?
The Taking Tree parodies Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" and follows these burning questions to their logical conclusion.
Watch to see your DC bureaucrats in action!!!

Weaponized Laffy Taffy
Soko's Def Min is thinking of linking unconventional irregular land warfare with asymmetrical weaponized laffy taffy.
The Defense Ministry is apparently minded to use songs and music videos by manufactured girl bands such as Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, After School, Kara and 4minute in so-called psychological warfare against North Korea.
An official in charge of psy ops at the Joint Chiefs of Staff said no decision has been made so far. "It will take months to set up the big screens to use in psychological warfare operations and a wide range of contents will be shown," the official said. "I don't know whether songs by girl groups will be included, but there is that chance since pop songs were used in the past."
The JCS official said he is unsure how effective the work of girl bands will be. But the revealing outfits worn by the performers and their provocative dances could have a considerable impact on North Korean soldiers.

Whomever & Wollensky?..............from Rico
Oh, the humanity!
The NYC steakhouse Smith & Wollensky (who I think serve the finest steaks on the planet) from 03-31 October is changing its name.
It will place the name of a randomly chosen guest alongside Wollensky on napkins, signs, you name it, everything!
Don't believe me? Just go to their website.
This is all I needed to be convinced that the US economy is truly IN a depression......

Was Biden's Prophecy Right, Except For The Timing?............by Dan Friedman
Joe Biden back on October 20, 2008:
"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
You could argue Biden’s prophecy has already been fulfilled more than once. But no “international crisis” Obama has yet faced compares to a multi-front war involving Gaza, Lebanon, Egypt, the PLO and NATO member Turkey against Israel. Nothing that came before would be a greater test of “the mettle of this guy” – his true allegiances and ideology – than that.

Winners? Losers? You decide...........from Rico
Take a look at the past decade.
To me, the 'winners' and the 'losers' clearly stand out.
A reasonable chap might conclude that Greenbacks, Bonds (sovereign debt) and Financials (banks) might NOT be the 'best' places to be invested for the next decade, but then we can't all be self-annointed Nobel prize winners like Krugman of the NYT, or Ivory Tower Professors from the Halls of Macadamia like Benny Bernanke either.
- Hey, I don't claim to be a genius here...I didn't "catch on" to this until Silver was in the low-20's and Gold in the low-700's, getting OUT of paper counter-party risk and some clearly 'losing' diversified investments at that time.
Ignoring CW (conventional wisdom), the cheerleaders and talking heads of FTV, and other economic crash-test dummies who tout "diversified & balanced" investment portfolios, I'd suggest (gasp) that you all think for yourselves and make your own decisions.
- Look at the attached graphic first. Somehow I very much doubt you'll see it anywhere else...
