Chicago as a model....................from Rico
Chicago can be seen as a 'model' of what progressive rule (Rohm Enamel, Barry's BFF is currently mayor) and really-REALLY stricy gun control laws can do for a city.
- Here is what Chicago looks like only half way through 2012.
With some "common sense" laws modeled after the Chicago way this can also be seen as a cautionary tale of what the entire country could look like if the progressives have their way and manage to make sure only criminals have guns....like they do in Chicago!

Insurgents Kill at Least 100 in Iraq as President Obama Spikes Football on Troop Withdrawal
This is complete, epic fail.
See: "Obama Praises Himself for Ending Iraq War on Same Day Insurgents Kill at Least 100 in New Offensive."
Again, this is just bad politics all around. According to reports, insurgents staged at least 40 separate attacks across Iraq, with car bombs, an attack on a military base, attacks on policemen in their homes, and ambushing checkpoints.
And don't miss the video at the link.

Desperate Despots........................by Dan Friedman

Syria's WMDs...and Iran's
It’s never easy to get the American public to focus on anything as remote and intangible as a threat to our security that originates in exotic places abroad. Even the astute and alert among us are inclined to wait until it’s too late. Impending catastrophes can always be put off another day or indefinitely, or so we tell ourselves until all hell breaks loose.
The Syrian uprising gives us a chance to shake off this complacency and see what the future holds if we don’t get out in front of it. In just the past few days, and thanks to an Israeli red flag, the Syrian supply of chemical weapons has become important news, and questions have arisen about what will happen to them and how they will be used as Assad is backed into an ever-tighter corner. Today, via Reuters we got a partial answer from the regime itself : Syria says could use chemical arms against foreign intervention
Call that what you will, but I’ll call it blackmail – and just a foreshadow of our lives if Iran is allowed to build the Bomb.
I hope I’ve got your attention by now.
