Gee, what a complete surprise!
The Gold spot market closed Friday at $1620/oz.
It just reopened, and wouldn't you know it? It started to climb, and was 'smacked down' almost immediately (despite it being in the wee hours with virtually NO traders).
The 'invisible hand' must be worried about something.
- It's gonna be a fun week...but August promises to be even more fun!

I think the Syrian Kurd takeover of their region has prompted Malaki to confront the KRG militarily.
It has been a publically stated Kurdish plan to establish autonomous zones in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey as a precurser to unifying an independent Kurdistan.
I suspect Malaki sees a need to seperate the KRG from Syrian Kurdistan to prevent that and secure the disputed zones.
Turks are also getting nervious about this and Iran cannot be happy either.
This could be the first moves in a Kurdish-Iraqi war or even larger.
Not sure either side is really ready but, events rarely wait for you to be ready...

Sad: Ashley Moser's Unborn Baby is 13th Victim of Colorado Movie Massacre
Actually, it's unbelievably, unconscionably sad.
Ms. Moser was pregnant when she was shot in the stomach and twice in the neck at the Aurora movie theater. She lost her daughter Veronica in the shooting already. The senseless violence is too much. Everyone's life is precious. I just cant' imagine the pain and sorrow ahead for the woman, who herself may be paralyzed from her injuries.

You have to know how poorly Barack Hussein Obama has performed in office when the phrase the "worst President ever” has already become a cliché.
Obama’s first term is frequently compared to the devastation of Jimmy Carter’s first and only term. It left Carter a rejected, embittered man, frequently critical of those who succeeded him.
What did President Reagan do to create an economic boom in the wake of Carter’s sorry record?
Peter Ferrara, the Director of Entitlement and Budget Policy for The Heartland Institute, who served in the Reagan White House Office of Policy Development, writing in 2008 cited Reagan’s (1) tax cuts to restore incentives for economic growth, (2) spending reductions, including a $31 billion cut in spending in 1981, close to 5% of the federal budget, (3) an anti-inflation monetary policy restraining money supply growth, (4) deregulation that by 2008 had saved consumers an estimated $100 billion in lower prices, and (5) free trade in the form of worldwide agreements to reduce tariff taxes.
Citing tax cuts, Ferrara noted that “Reagan was not the first or last to adopt sweeping tax cuts to boost the economy. It has happened four, perhaps five, times in the last century, with virtually the same results every time.”
