Mali Islamists take strategic town of Douentza
Militant Islamists in northern Mali are accused of committing war crimes
Militant Islamist rebels have seized the strategic central Malian town of Douentza, extending the area they control in the north of the country. Witnesses said fighters of the Movement for Unity and Jihad group took the town after a brief stand-off with the local self-defence militia.
The move brings the militants closer to the government-held south-west. The militants overran all of northern Mali after a military coup threw the country into turmoil in March.
Residents of Douentza, about 800km (500 miles) north-east of the capital Bamako, said a convoy of pick-up vehicles carrying bearded men entered the town early on Saturday. Islamist leader Oumar Ould Hamaha told the Associated Press news agency that the attackers had encircled the town and asked the local militiamen to surrender. "They tried to make phone calls to ask for reinforcements, but when they saw that no-one was coming to help them they laid down their arms," he said.
Residents said some of the militia's members had fled, while others were now were being held by the Islamists.
Regional fears
Together with secularist Tuareg rebels, the Islamists rapidly overran the northern half of Mali after the March coup, but have since ended the alliance and are now largely in sole control of the area. [Translation: Islam will make alliances with infidels for the short-term purpose of gaining control. Once the Islamists achieve that goal they ditch the unbelievers and take all power for themselves. df]
They have been accused of war crimes and attempting to impose a literal interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, prompting fears the region could become a regional hub for al-Qaeda-linked militancy.
Islamist fighters in the historic city of Timbuktu have demolished several Sufi shrines and mosques - regarded as idolatrous by the hard-liners - prompting international fears for the future of the Unesco world heritage site.

In an interview with the Associated Press last week he said that Mitt Romney holds “extreme positions.” This is in line with the immediate Democratic Party attack launched against Paul Ryan as a “radical.”
The sad part of this is that people who will vote for Obama still believe what he says.
To them I say, you know you’re a moron if….
You can ignore the fact that, under Obama, the nation has been through forty-two months with an unemployment rate of eight percent or higher.
You know you’re a moron if…
You don’t know that there are currently an estimated 23,000,000 Americans unemployed or who have simply given up looking for work.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that there are 45,000,000 Americans on food stamps.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that there are 46,000,000 Americans living below the poverty line.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that the Congress has not passed a budget in the last three years and that both houses were controlled by the Democratic Party for Obama’s first two years in office.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that Obamacare takes $716 billion out of Medicare in order to fund a law that has twenty-two new taxes hidden in it.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that the United States of America is $16 trillion in debt; more than the nation’s annual Gross Domestic Product, the total of all its goods and services.
You know you’re a moron if….
You don’t know that the Obama Department of Justice sued Arizona to thwart its effort to stop illegal immigration and reduce the flow of drugs and human trafficking across its border with Mexico.
You know you’re a moron if…
You don’t know that the Obama administration is still covering up “Fast and Furious”, an operation to move guns to the Mexican drug cartels that cost a Border Patrol office his life.

You don’t know that Obama’s “stimulus” program, a $787 billion slush fund for unions, green energy companies, and other cronies of the administration, has been a massive failure.
You know you’re a moron if…
You don’t know that Obama intervened to stop the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline even though it was estimated to produce 20,000 construction and related jobs, and provide the U.S. with Canadian oil without costing the American taxpayer a dollar.
You know you’re a moron if…
After Obama installed pro-union members on the National Labor Relations Board, it ordered Boeing aircraft company not to build a plant in South Carolina.
You know you’re a moron if…
You don’t know that in May 2012 Obama endorsed same-sex marriages, the first President to ever do that. The next day, North Carolina voters approved a ban on gay and lesbian marriages.
You know you’re a moron if….
You think it’s a good idea to reduce America’s nuclear arsenal to 1,500 warheads in a world where the North Koreans have nukes, Pakistan has nukes, and Iran is working feverishly to acquire them.
I could go on, but it is a very long list of things Democrats and liberals apparently either do not know or prefer to ignore.
Voters for Obama will ignore the fact that Obama is “transforming” America into the equivalent of Greece and taking the nation over a fiscal cliff.

Rage Against Income Inequality! Forward comrades!...................from Rico
The Demonrats (C) and their kept-whore MSM is doing it's very best to convince Americans that the dreaded "income inequality" needs to be fought, and they are the very ones to fight the good fight!
- Like everything else they say, the truth is the polar opposite of the assertion. Yet it is the siren call for the ignorant. Rage against the income inequality!!!
But hold on a minute, look at Pew's conclusions (chart attached).
- Essentially the Poor remain poor (clueless is, as clueless does), while the Middle Class HAS shrunk...but they have moved upwards. From 1971 where the Middle was 61% to 2011 where it was 51% corresponds neatly to the change in Upper Class from 14% in 1971 to 20% in 2011.
Boo, effin' hoo!
- The only thing socialism has to offer is the equal sharing of poverty and misery. It'll be interesting to see how things have changed in another 40 years.
Another time we'll talk about the age-old socialist slogan "forward" (which can correctly be interpreted as 'backward').
