Eat more pork.....

British pork will become a rare delicacy. Another group of British farmers being screwed by the bloody supermarkets. Production costs are not being covered. Stop buying meat from them and go to your local butcher.

Hear, hear Theo! If more people used their local shops these supermarket bastards would have to play fair with their suppliers and we would have less problems with food security. And its going to get worse; when Mrs Supermarket Mum can't get her "baby carrots" because the Chinese have bought them all, she's going to scream blue murder. Wonder what Terry Leahey will say then?

I would never criticise people who are on limited incomes for shopping at the cheapest food retailer they can find.

However, those of us who have a reasonable degree of choice should vote with their wallets where they can.

My local "nice" supermarket in the North-West of England is an EH Booth (family owned, genuinely support local producers etc) and I also have an award-winning organic farm shop in my village.

That's where we do most of our shopping. It's not an answer but it's a start.
