French made no doubt....

I love the headline!

In 1999 I was deployed to Kuwait. One of the first briefings we got was on unexploded ordnance (UXOs). The nco giving the briefing said he'd never buy anything made in France again... 99.5% of the UXOs recovered were French made munitions dropped/fired by the Iraqis when they captured Kuwait. The other .5% was ours.

There were several "hardened" aircraft shelters at the base that the US had bombed - they may as well have been cardboard. One of the pilots with us pointed to two of them and said "I did that, and my wingman did the other one." I was told the reason the Kuwaitis hadn't leveled them was because they were suing the French company that made the shelters...

Sell foreigners bomblets that don't work. I think the French showed a bit of foresight there on reflection. Oh, and if the French need to zap foreigners HASs it makes sense to make them out of meringue. Save the working fuses and proper concrete for French use.

Please, on no account, mention Exocets.

the french are clever - i would have never thought of that

all though on the other hand the reason why the french dont want to contribute more forces to iraq is that the percentage of working soldiers are already there
