Question of the Day....

Which is bigger: The USMC or the British Military ?

Basically if you lined them all up on the dockside who has the biggest number of troops, tanks, planes, helos and ships etc. This is to highlight what a decade of Labour's deliberate neglect has done to our Armed forces. I love the USMC for who they are and their proud traditions but I would like to think that the British Military is bigger in terms of numbers. I will try and find all the figures if I can. Anyone who can help with the figures please leave a comment.

Update: Anyone got the figures for the US National Guard? Please please tell me that the RAF has more planes than the Air National Guard.

Update2: Hell in a Handbasket has some figures that make interesting reading.

Are you asking in terms of budget, number in uniform, combat power in their home country, or ability to project power outside of the country?

The USA army has a bunch of broken tanks and apc's they are at repair shops, Someone forgot to budget in repair cost of combat operations in gritty sand.
The Air Force has a bunch of broken F-15's one with 5000 hours came apart in the air, Pilot is safe. Other combat and support aircraft need repairs.
They were using USAF mechanics to guard convoys in Iraq a couple of months ago.
Sad to say ours is not in much better shape than your forces, But at least we have not run out of .50 machine guns.

I've used the power of the Intertubes to look up some figures.

I really think that the value of such an exercise is rather limited, but I hope it is what you wanted.

From the latest ANG snapshot, the ANG has 1,326 aircraft of numerous types, of which 750 are fighters (A-10, F-15, F-16).

Go to http://www.ang.af.mil/ and click on the Snapshot graphic to get the whole document... I mean I had no idea that the Air National Guard has 41.9 million square feet of building space... And yet they just closed our NCO club :(

The USA may have to deploy reserves to Columbia area, Or they are already on the way. Venezuela is sending troops to the border with Columbia.
Anyone ready for 150.00 to 200.00 per barrel of oil?
