F-22 Raptor on the right. Incredible jet. I was a USAF officer for twenty years, but I controlled ICBMs aimed at the USSR.

What is the one on the left??

F-35 Lightning II. Still in Testing, formerly known as the JSF. It's going to the USAF, USN and USMC, but I also thought the RAF was in on the buy. Maybe not.

Allegedly the JSF will replace the Harrier GR9 of Joint Strike Force Harrier (RAF & FAA) on the Queen Elizabeth class carriers. But delays mean cuts and cuts mean delays. Can't see the point of two big carriers just carrying Apaches, Chinooks and Merlins.
