I guess the UK should have withdrawn from London during the first gulf war? After all, they couldn't prevent the IRA from firing mortars at 10 Downing Street during a time of hightened terrorist alert...
Pay attention to the details. There is no such thing as a heavily fortified area in Iraq. Forts went out with the Maginot Line.
