The concussion from those guns is astonishing. The 5" guns on my destroyer would knock a ballcap from your head, or mess up your hair, even 100' away. The big guns have been known to literally rip the shirts from seamen's backs. Must be seen/felt/heard to be believed!

She came here once on a cruise - the most beautiful thing I've ever seen afloat.
When I see photos like this, I always look at the water next to the ship: look at how far the guns blew the ship sideways. Now that's some energy.
Nice demo of Newtonian mechanics there. In British schools it wouldn't be allowed of course, 'cos, you know, war is bad, mkay?
