Saddam's Killing Fields The reason why we had to go back in.

"Saddam's Killing Fields," an award winning account of the destruction of the Marsh Arabs of Southern Iraq and other crimes committed by Saddam's regime in the early 1990s including the 1991 uprising. Filmed in 1993. By Michael Wood a popular English historian and broadcaster.

Editors note: I am going to run this purely because I am a fan of Michael Wood. And I believe we should have gone all the way the first time round. Anyone who was there please leave your comments and all those who have been there since. Every pissant liberal should be made to see this because WMD were not the issue. Rescuing people from oppression was.

Saddam was a Soviet Client.
And the Soviet Union was not quite done yet.

In return for not going for Baghdad in 1991, the USSR withdrew from the Baltics and began evacuating Germany.

Status Quo resumes in ME and NATO gains East Germany and the Baltics, followed by...

I would say that was a decent stategic deal...

Rescuing people from oppression is what it was all about ?

Oh really.

Let's raid every despotic country then starting with Zimbabwe.

This was about oil - and do you know what ? I agree with the Americans for doing it for that very reason.

The questoin of what was in it for Britain leaves me slightly perplexed though. We're facing heightened terror threats AND the highest petrol costs.

Go figure, as they say.

Thanks for running this one. The code pinkers who look on Saddam as a hero should be forced to watch this.

Thesinger, whom I think made a brief appearance in the flick, wrote a 1984 book "the Marsh Arabs" which is still available in Britain though not over here. Great book on a civilization destroyed by Saddam.
