While watching this film, Theo, I did something really dumb....I turned the sound up on my computer.1904 - sound - Doh!
Folks were awful quiet back then.The thought that went through my noggin while watching that vid was...Eww. That was in the days before bathing became a regular practice and before deodorant was invented.
I love this type of thing. That was brilliant.
What I find inexorably sad about films like this is that every single person we see, without exception, is dead.
Told the young fellow that this was how it was in his mothers day.He showed her and then the day turned to custard....
Couldn't help wondering how many of those ten year old lads splashing in the lake were crouching in trenches a dozen years on. Fin de siecle indeed.
