Some nutter in New Zealand....

is building a full sized bowling ball throwing trebuchet next year.

And of course by "some nutter" I mean me. I'll post photos as we go. What could possibly go wrong????

Someone start a fund for bail money just in case.

I sent my son in Wellington a "how to" book on flamethrowers and absinthe. I look forward to the pyrotechnics from you (and him).

Nutter? I'd pay money to watch someone launce bowling balls with a trebuchet. Hell, I'd pay him more to let me pull the lanyard. I'd help him build it.

I'd be even more excited if he had a deserving target.

We biult a Trebuchet as Scouts last week :) with poles, ropes and 2 25ltr water drums for a counter weight, we managed to lob a brick about 35meters. not bad!

A friend of mine actually built one a while back in his back yard. It's good for about 450 yards (he has a big back yard). We launch it every once in a while. Great party entertainment.

He also has a mounted crossbow constructed out of an old auto leaf spring.

Enjoy your trebuchet.

If you're that keen Nick theres a paypal link.

Current thinking puts the lanyard pulling at $10 a shot.
