Tolkien knew how to write about trees.
The large tree shown in the 1st and 4th panels in the left column is a well-known monkeypod tree located in the Moanalua Gardens in Honolulu, just below Tripler Hospital. This tree has been properly cared for instead of being severely pruned back the way so many other monkeypods are commonly mistreated in Hawaii. It's also known as the Hitachi Tee because it is used as the symbol for that company. Another place to find such trees is at the Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The arborists there also do a very nice job of caring for their trees.
