Theo's Thoughts on Libya...........

This is in response to email conversations...........I am no expert but if we screw up Libya things will only get worse.

'Send in French Foreign Legion, the RAF regiment thats in France right now and the USMC thats offshore. Mix in the special forces from various outfits and we might make some progress. Wondering if Mossad could deal with Gadaffi, cos if he is still in power in a month things are going to get long term and nasty through out the middle east. If we can't deal with Libya then Syria and Yemen are a non starter. This is very similar to the downfall of the iron curtain but with a lot more violence and trouble to follow. We must act quickly to keep the locals onside before the 'Muslim Brotherhood' et al build an hard core islamist movement in north africa. North of the equator is already suffering from islamist agression and south of the equator is being bought up by the chinese. Not only do we have to 'sort out' the middle east but we also have to 'control' china's growing domination of africa. Africa is a huge source of mineral and potentially farming wealth in the coming decades and the west is letting our enemies take it from us. As an Englishman who has seen a Labour government in the 40s & 50s throw away an empire without any regard for the consequences to the populations of those countries, it is a disgrace. The Commonwealth should be a trading alliance amongst peoples with a common language and common interests. Sadly the guilt ridden twits at the foreign office have spent the last 50 years apologising for the empire and not building a political/trading block that could bring some good to all those involved.'

These uprisings in the middle east present a golden opportunity to achieve good results for little effort. Just by supporting the weaker side, in turn, (first one side, then the other) keep the pot boiling until the whole rabid bunch are wiped out on both sides.

Indecision and late action may, be default, result in the correct policy.

The correct policy in these middle eastern uprisings of thugs against thug regimes is to support the weaker side, whichever and whenever that is, and in that way keep the pot boiling until the whole rabid lot are wiped out.

Indecision is almost implementing optimum strategy.
