The UK should build three of the new US America class LHAs (amphibious assault carriers carrying a reinforced Marine battalion plus air squadron, and equip them with F-35s. Build your battle groups around that and you could have them in 5 years, much faster than attempting to procure from scratch, and be good for 30 years.
