Reader Survey...............

Every now and again I ask the readers what suggestions they have re: this blog. Please leave suggestions in comments the feedback is helpful. I would really like to change the layout and maybe the header but am not sure. I think we have got the content about right and I couldn't run this blog without the help of the contributors who do an amazing job.

Generally, the content is good.

Love the aviation (all eras) videos.

However, quite a few of the totties have faces you could strike matches on, or maybe flints, and thongs are not always the turn-on some suppose.

Always a good read - for the articles, of course..

I think that my view can best be summed-up by saying that my blog is a poor-man's imitation of yours! Wasn't intended that way but....
PS. Not EVERYthing, of course. I wouldn't want to blame you for my views!!!

I like your header. If you do redo it, please keep the spitfire, or have some type of spitfire in it. I enjoy the articles, and as the other person commented the aviation stuff. Cartoon roundup is great, and one of my favs is the picture dumps. You find so many fantastic pictures! I pretty much like the layout, but if you do change I would say minor adjustments would be all. Don't make your writing any smaller please - we old folks have problems seeing. Some blogs are bad at this. Keep up the great work. I may not read you every day, but i always go back and pick up where I left off last. Bravo and thanks.

I visit your blog daily. The content is superb. Just the right mix of everything. Can you please publish links to where we can find those amazing photographs you always post? I would love to get the full size versions of some of those for my desktop. I've seen so many cars, planes, nature and hot girl shots that I can't use as wallpaper because the full size images are still too small. Can you link to the high res? Thanks!

The content is good. Keep the header. Get rid of the "connect" bar - it slows down loading the pages. And sometimes, when I click on a link and then want to click back using the dropdown track back menu in the upper left of my browser, I see "Amazon.com" and "Facebook" in the trail of sites I've supposedly been to between your page and the link I just clicked. But, I didn't go to them. So, obviously, there's some misdirection or some other BS going on...you can cut that shit out, too.

I agree with virtually everything Anonymous just said. Please don't lose the Spit.

I have you as a bar link and you're my final daily read. The Spit is essential. Anything other than minor tweaking would be change for the sake of change.

Content is fine, you're right! Can anything be done to make it load faster on my mobile? The sidebar takes FOREVER and I end up timing out occasionally. Thanks!

I have been reading and enjoying your blog for years and find it interesting that you are asking this question.
I always though that a person's blog was what he or she wanted it to be and either would not care or be interested in what anyone else thought.

Or maybe that is just how I would be, if I had a blog.

So my answer is do what you will, how you want it. Screw what everybody else thinks.

Or wants.

Yea I know you want to make your blog a success (whatever that is) but you really should be more concerned - in my opinion - in presenting what YOU believe.

It's coming down to the time where we have to not only understand but to pick a side.

So, your job is to inform, instruct, and convince people to chose your side. The side of individual freedoms and justice for you and the rest of us.

Here in a nutshell is my message:

“The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.”

I have been following your blog for years, so, obviously, I like it.

A few suggestions for improvement:

(1) Too much stuff in the side bar. Reduce the clutter and re-organize what's left for better context and comprehension.

(2) Limit the number of posts on the main page, such that the posts' content and sidebar's content terminate roughly at the same vertical level.

(3) I like the pic dumps. I would love to use many of them as screen-savers, but most of them are linked to small image sizes. Please make largest sizes available for downloading!

(4) Please identify all posted scenery pics, whenever possible.

(5) Keep the wibiya toolbar. I use it myself. It does not noticeably slowdown page loading.

Hope this helps.

Keep the Spit, Keep the totties, Keep the Mil stuff. The "you might like" box is even manageable now. No real problems on mobile either.
I've been hanging around for years and have to say it's a daily morning routine of mine. Coffee, and Theo.

But, I do have to say that some of the contributors get long winded and could use a "click for more" option, I'm not sure I'm a fan of GSGF. I guess I just don't see what it is they are trying to do.
Keep up the good work.

Theo,
I'm a fairly regular reader, although not necessarily everyday. Given that, if you posted a warning, and I missed it, please disregard the following.
Yesterday when I visited, and your link bar popped up, I was fairly sure I'd picked up malware of some sort. Your Comment box that popped up about 30 seconds later (I live in the country, my internet connection isn't all that fast) was somewhat reassuring but...My recommendation would be to post a notice before hand that that sort of enhancement was coming.
Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy your blog and read it almost in its entirety as well as use it as a link spot to several other blogs you list.
Keep up the good work.

I'd like, some more... and agree very much with Papa Ray @ 16.03

Theo,

You have a great blog. It's a more than one-a-day stop. The most useful is the links to UK press items of interest. As a west-pondian, our media coverage leaves one less informed after reading. It's useless.
Your links help.
I enjoy the photolinks very much. Do not get the larger images, as this would slow uploading. I use TinEye to find the original of those I fancy, if available.
Please yourself on the header. I like the Spit as well, but it's your blog.

Keep up the good work.
And give a shout out to your Mom. I trust she is doing better, from your update.

I think you're a pics/graphics, documentary/news commentary, and Theo news site so how about breaking it into three columns? The right column now could go on the bottom. Just my 2 cents.

Theo your site is still my favorite
but could you lose GSGF waste of space also check through some of the blogs you list a few are not there any longer.Other than that its fine and dont change the header for changes sake. AJD

Spitfire and Cross of St. George are musts. It's you.

So is the rest, why screw with success?

Blogger just ate a very long and crafted response.
Short form
1. Agree largely with TheBigHenry
2. Keep eye on complexity & load times, has improved over a few years ago
3. Test on platforms and browsers
4. GSGF is OK, a good aggregator, unsure why people get emotional about the facade
5. Some Contributors need a "Read More" or link feature
6. Liked old pic categories like "Blog House"
7. Like link to largest images available
8. Like images identified, locations etc.
9. May want to move adverts or fix format so people don't comment on the wrong thread
10. May want to eliminate Anonymous comments if flame wars return. Some were directed at GSGF a while back. At this time comments seem to be in decline and need encouraging.
11. Add Tweet Facebook Blog a comment links
12. May need a mobile version, may not be worth the effort to you
13. Index threads by categories and add a better search feature
14. May want want to make feeds predictable, eg OZ Monday, Israel Tuesday, Yank Wednesday etc.

The content is without peer.
As someone who has been known to "borrow" the totties, I would just recommend using larger pics when possible, 1100 or 1200 on the long axis.
Any cosmetic changes are your call, of course. The flag and the Spitfire are keepers.
And keep up the great work.
