My father served as a navigator in WW2, and logged time in the B-17. A few years back I got him a flight in this very warbird. He went up with another veteran who had served as a co-pilot in B-17s. They told war stories, walked all over the plane, and generally had a blast.That's the real value of having these old warbirds still around; for the men who served in them.
