Throughout history, false rumors (canards) of increasing Jewish strength circulating in neighboring non-Jewish communities were enough to bring a paroxysm of hate, murder and destruction down upon the Jews. Now, for once in thousands of years, the “rumors” are true, thank G-d – but the Nations’ reaction is still the same.
