The Jews are an odd Nation. For all our profound love for life and Hashem, we still carry within us the DNA of our downfall – the mixed multitudes or the “erev Rav.” It’s this perpetual internal struggle - set in motion as we were leaving Egypt - that has caused Jews so much tragedy and trouble through the ages.
