No World For Naive Men.............by Dan Friedman

Since the events of the so-called Arab Spring, a light has been focused on the fate of Christian communities in Muslim dominated lands – especially the oppressed Copts of Egypt. While I have not taken a head count, I am sure many Jews are sympathetic to the cause, and in one way or the other have helped to spread word of the Christian’s baleful plight as Islamists take control of their countries one by one. I know I have. It’s the right thing to do.

Now along comes this story in The Times of Israel, Coptic Church: No visits to the Holy Land as long as it is named ‘Israel’ Frankly, this is one instance of Jew-hatred I was unaware of. But the pandemic is spreading so fast, it’s hard to keep track.

At the risk of overstating the point, this hints of our betrayal by the Civil Rights Movement which quickly turned on the very Jews who helped them win the day.

Alas, there’s a painful take-home message here for Jews – one that flies in the face of our preternatural goodwill and our “judge-favorably” character. Until we heel it, the world is built in such a way that to survive in it Jews must be doubly circumspect. Before we take up another nation’s cause we need to defeat our would-be killers and secure the Jewish state’s future first.

To Cargosquid:

OOOOOR yours is a ridiculous premise that if the Egyptian Copts turn on Israel somehow their Muslim majority will leave them alone?

It was what it sounds like it is!
