You Make a Choice When You Eat Meat

The choice is that by reason and providence you put humans above all other creatures on the earth. And to eat meat is to kill animals. You know this. We hope that the animals killed for the food we eat are treated humanely, and that their death is as quick and painless as possible. But considering the enormous quantities needed to feed the population, there may be some times when "humane" killing isn't as humane as we'd like. What to do? Stop eating meat? Well, that's one choice, but it's the choice that the fanatical anti-human environmentalists are attempting to shove down your throat.

I don't like watching these secret videos of horrid, morally bankrupt treatment of cows. But I know the animals have to be killed and there is really no neat and pretty way to do it.

See the full report, "Obscene Undercover Video of Inhumane Killing at Central Valley Meat Co. in Hanford, California."

In-N-Out Burgers, which was contracting with that slaughterhouse, has cut all ties to the firm and issued a statement.

Check those links to watch. Viewer discretion is advised.

Animal cruelty certainly occurs and much too often. However, I didn't see much of it in the video.

1.Multiple bolt-gun strikes? If the first one didn't finish the job, are you supposed to stop there and wait to see if the cow gets better?
--------
2. Getting cows to move by pulling it's tail? or even (gosh I feel faint) buzzing it with an electric shock? Listen, I've been zapped several different times with electric cattle prods. It certainly gets your attention, but it's not a horrible torture. If a cow doesn't want to move and you must move it, should you whisper sweet nothings in it's ear? Maybe dancing a festive jig would help? No, you need to make the cow want to move.

3. OMG HOT WATER... boiling..um...steaming..er well it was darn hot we're telling you.

4. Cows and other animals can and do move after death. Did you know that if you cut off a chickens head it might still be able to run around... oh... I don't know..."LIKE A CHICKEN WITH IT'S HEAD CUT OFF"?

I AM concerned about questionable animals being introduced into the meat supply if that's what was happening here. (But, I certainly wouldn't take a Vegan Avenger's word on it, one way or the other.)

In conclusion, you city-folk need to put on your big-girl panties and get over the silly squeamishness.
