I have always favored P.J. O'Rourke over Hunter S. Thompson, and his observation on "the wages of slavery" are insightful.

- I would add "Section 8" (free housing) and "EBT cards" (soup kitchens) to his remarks for clarity.

 

This is exactly how our politicians keep so many loyal voters on the government plantation.
