Past War vs This War.
Neither the Iran-Backed Houthi's of Yemen, nor the PLA Navy, are 'fighting the last war' ...they are fighting 'this war.'
One of the take-aways from the Houthi sinking of "MV Eternal C" [which was attacked and sunk by an unmanned boat, cruise and ballistic missiles] and "MV Magic Seas" [which was boarded and sunk by placed explosive charges] is that the West [read: USN] is still conducting naval warfare using the past war's methods (to badly paraphrase John Bolton).
Consider: The USN has not had an aircraft carrier sunk since WW II. Drones, unmanned naval drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles are this war's features.
