Preparedness..........from Rico
I think it's the Boy Scout motto to "be prepared"
...but we all know the progressives and Obamunistas do NOT like the Scouts because they actually pray, can take care of themselves, look after others and try to be helpful, etc.
Obviously potential terrorists!
They sure terrorize the Commucrat bastards who want to see everyone helpless, dependent upon the government, and subservient to the State. Slaves.
Obama - Chains we can believe in!!!

We Will Remember Them
London, UK
Today, November 11th, 2009, was the first Remembrance Day without any World War One survivors.
Last year I posted this at www.jeremyjacobs.com
World War One – 90 Years On
He was just 18 years of age. My uncle Lionel, who died earlier this year, was named after him.

A Hillbuzz Shocker
A Hillbuzz Shocker:
We know absolutely no one in Bush family circles and have never met former President George W. Bush or his wife Laura.
If you have been reading us for any length of time, you know that we used to make fun of “Dubya” nearly every day…parroting the same comedic bits we heard in our Democrat circles, where Bush is still, to this day, lampooned as a chimp, a bumbling idiot, and a poor, clumsy public speaker.
Oh, how we RAILED against Bush in 2000…and how we RAILED against the surge in support Bush received post-9/11 when he went to Ground Zero and stood there with his bullhorn in the ruins on that hideous day.
We were convinced that ANYONE who was president would have done what Bush did, and would have set that right tone of leadership in the wake of that disaster. President Gore, President Perot, President Nader, you name it. ANYONE, we assumed, would have filled that role perfectly.

If anyone is feeling particularly generous this year…
As both my regular readers at Hitting Metal With A Hammer know I'm a poor student living on noodles and mouldy bread and I have to walk 8 miles through the snow to get to school (which is damned hard in mid summer I can assure you!) My catapulting is entirely funded by what I can find down the back of the cushions and several very generous donations from military types who shamelessly encourage my violent tendencies which I then pass on to the local youth disguised as "history". So once again I’m holding my hand out as I have a pressing need for two particular books:
Greek And Roman Artillery, Technical Treaties
E. W. Marsden
And
Greek and Roman Artillery. Historical Development
E. W. Marsden
For those in the business Marsden is the bible for ancient catapults and you're either a disciple or a heretic, but Marsdens is The Word you're fighting over.
These books are of course quite expensive so if you feel inclined to help out with the cause but don't have the loose change to go about buying books for strangers you can donate through paypal to the 22AD Research Fund. The research fund goes towards building new machines and research material which can include research into the effects of alcohol at post event bbq's.
"Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing."
Albert Einstein
I believe beer helps this research process at the "what the hell am I doing" end of the scale. While I don't believe in the something for nothing principle I'm happy to give anyone who donates anything a copy of my tennis ball ballista plan. which you can view here and here.
Just out of interest if everyone who had downloaded my trebuchet plan had donated $1 I could have bought both these books, all the text books (23) for my next year at university... and a car.
In catapult related news I'm working on two books at the moment based on my research and this may well be related to the two books mentioned above. I'm writing a boring academic one and I'm editing a kids version of it written by a friend of mine who is much better at getting to the point and not waffling a load of verbose bollocks. they should be available mid next year. Email me if you're interested in a copy and I’ll put you on a notification list. 22adartillery AT gmail DOT com

Oil and ho-hum...............from Rico
The US Dollar dropped against 12 of its 16 counterparts.
So? Ho hum.
When the global recovery REALLY gets underway, oil will be at or above $150/bbl. (Remember 2008?)
...$300/bbl is possible, which would put gasoline over $6/gallon and diesel over $7-8/gallon.
This will hammer trucking! (Now you know why Buffet bought a RR!)
- Long-haul truckers will be out of a job.
The middle-class in suburbia will face commuting costs double what they are paying now.
This does NOT include "Crap...er, Cap and Trade."
Pick one: long dollar OR long oil.

Bamboozled-hoodwinked-and lied to............from Rico
To those few who are not brain-dead from reality TV or the government-run education system, the reality that we have been BAMBOOZLED-HOODWINKED-and LIED TO only becomes clearer and harsher.
Unless you are a flaming Marxist radical, (which well describes Team Obama), Team Obama has a failed rePORKcard so far, and His Obamaness's hostile takeover of our Liberty and free markets marches on despite its obvious folly.
To wit, so-called government provided "free" public services almost always cost more than what could be provided by the public sector (which must survive by keeping costs low to compete; gooberment does NOT have this incentive...they have the taxpayer instead, when you can no longer pay your confiscatory taxes there is always the 'forced' labor option...and if you can no longer 'work' for Massa Comrade Government there are always the death panels and denial of care).
- "Progressive" desire to be generous to the 'poor' and the 'victims' is destroying the positive incentive to work, be productive, and save/invest.
PelosiCare is a typical Commucrat disaster. It does NOT 'reform' the health care system, but is instead another trillion-dollar-plus expansion of gooberment power and debt! It raises taxes, penalizes and criminalizes free choice, forces millions of people out of their current health care plans into the 'uncaring' embrace of a rationed-government-controlled system, and surely is an economy KILLER!
For those not inspired by self-flagellation or wearing kick-me signs, Dr. Liberty needs to make a House call and invites you to join him in having a frank discussion with the Senate...before holding a pillow over the face of those who would smother our free choice and freedom!
Where is Dr. Kevorkian when we really need him? These mad-Marxists need to be 'put down' like the rabid anti-American dogs they have become........
