Home ownership has been the American "dream" but home owners have lost 26x more in equity than they have reduced their mortgages..losing $7 trillion from Spring 2006 to Spring 2010 (from $20 trillion to $13 trillion). With 75 million homwowners this equates to a "loss" of $93K each. This is not a good sign for real estate.
