A bit ago I gassed-on about how the USG had sub-rosa devalued its currency via the IMF SDR's (special drawing rights*).
Turns out, this was nothing especially new...just more of the same-old same-old.
On 31 Dec 2002, 1 USD= 0.7382 SDR
On 18 Oct 2009, 1 USD= 0.6280 SDR
Hmmmmm....that's a 15% decline in the Dollar from 2002 to 2009.
- Yeah, Bush was almost as big a shmuck as Obama is.
Anyone want to 'guess' what the Dollar's decline will be seven years hence?
- Hint: It will NOT be an increase.
*The value of an IMF SDR is based upon four currencies - The US Dollar, the Euro, the Japanese Yen, and the Pound Sterling.

Something for the Wargamers
Eric Hotz runs Roman Seas which is an ancient naval warfare gaming source. Mainly Roman (hence the name Roman Seas) but includes those pesky Carthaginians and later Saxon pirates... they'll have to go too! Build some defenses on the shore, you'll be right.
Along with the many ship models he has a very good range of buildings from Roman rural to large urban buildings as well as a wide range fortifications.
Everything is print and assemble so once you've bought the item you can make as many as you want. Yay fleet enagements! Not to mention if you wanted to you could probably make a model of Rome with only a couple of scratch built models.
He also has links to where you can get gaming mats, coincidently named Hotzmats... spooky possums.
I've bought a couple of the fortification sets and they're very good... no cataputls yet but maybe someone will be silly enough to design some really small ones for Eric someday. Go forth and shop!

122 HOURS OF FEAR
"The song '122 Hours of Fear' - inspired by the hijacking saga of Lufthansa Flight 181 - was recorded by The Screamers in 1978. A lifetime membership to Team STORMBRINGER to anybody who can come up with a copy of that song - S.L."
As promised - and I know I'm going to regret this - STORMBRINGER presents The Screamers, 122 HOURS OF FEAR . . . from the tail end of the Decade of Bad Taste.

A few quotes...........
"The thing they forget is that liberty and freedom and democracy are so very precious that you do not fight to win them once and stop. You do not do that. Liberty and freedom and democracy are prizes awarded only to those peoples who fight to win them and then keep fighting eternally to hold them!" - Sergeant Alvin York
"The public cannot be too curious concerning the characters of public men." - Samuel Adams, in a letter to James Warren, on November 4, 1775
"Never forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn't let him do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians." - from the novel Hope by Aaron Zelman and L. Neil Smith
"When a man spends his own money to buy something for himself, he is very careful about how much he spends and how he spends it.
When a man spends his own money to buy something for someone else, he is still very careful about how much he spends, but somewhat less what he spends it on.
When a man spends someone else's money to buy something for himself, he is very careful about what he buys, but doesn't care at all how much he spends.
And when a man spends someone else's money on someone else, he doesn't care how much he spends or what he spends it on. And that's government for you." -Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman
"Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint." - Mark Twain
"Every truth passes through three stages before it is recognized: In the first it is ridiculed, in the second it is opposed, in the third it is regarded as self-evident." - Arthur Schopenhauer (German Philosopher, 1788-1860)
"Three groups spend other people's money: children, thieves, politicians. All three need supervision." - Dick Armey

POMO and other 'green shoot' recovery fairy tales.........from Rico
The Fed's POMO (permanent open market operations, which consists of Treasury purchases, agency debt, mortgage-backed securities, and other various programs...mostly consisting of buying bad debt with more bad debt...) is having an effect. It's an effect the Government does NOT want you to think about or understand, however.
As a result of POMO, the Fed is printing roughly $15-30 billion dollars a DAY just to keep the country from sinking beneath the economic waves.
I'm no economist...and certainly not a Keynesian...but to me, any country printing $30 billion dollars a day is flirting with Argentinian-Zimbabwean (this A-Z includes W for Weimar) trouble.
Meanwhile, leaving Washington behind for a moment, credit defaults are increasing and banks are pulling-back credit from consumers on Main Street.
Good plan, Team Obama...this will really work well. It'll doubtless work even BETTER with some hefty tax increases and more "wanton-wasteful-willynilly" spending of funny money that we don't HAVE and so will have to 'borrow' and finance the interest on.
That's the end of todays 'green shoots of recovery' fairy tale.
Warning. Not approved for distribution by any state-run media organs.

No problem - Formula.................from Rico
This is a formula, a sure-fire formula...a formula for "no problem" (press #2 para espanol - no problemo).
Because "if it's not a problem YET, then it's NOT a problem" right?
Yeah. Right.
Let's consider this a formula for when TSHTF instead why don't we?
- Our FY 2009 Federalo deficit increased 212% (by the gooberment's accounting, so it must be accurate...you know how well Uncle's children do with accounting, like with the "unemployment" numbers)...NO problem.
Green shoots? The ONLY green shoots are the ones this administration and it's media lapdogs are smoking.
- I see no signs of "recovery" on Main Street yet, in fact all indications are that it's getting worse and not better there.

America Cedes Sovereignty to the IMF
Surrendering Sovereignty: "The IMF Has Inspired More Revolutions Around the World than Marx, Engels and Lenin Combined."
Classical Liberal lays out the score. It ain't pretty.
New word for the day: "Fascialism"
The hallmark of the Obama administration’s economic policy thus far is a forced “partnerships” with dozens of large banks along with General Motors and Chrysler. It is threatening hundreds of other “partnerships” in the name of environmental regulation. And that’s just in the first five months. Mussolini would be envious.
Italian fascism created one gigantic bailout economy. Italian social critic Gaetano Salvemini wrote in his 1936 book, Under the Axe of Fascism, that “It is the state, i.e., the taxpayer, who has become responsible to private enterprise. In Fascist Italy the state pays for the blunders of private enterprise.” “Profit remained to private initiative,” Salvemini wrote, but “the government added the losses to the taxpayers’ burden. Profit is private and individual. Loss is public and social.” Sound familiar? The Classic Liberal Blog
Also, see Fundamentally Change America -- A New World Order. I may be deranged, but I think this has all been intentional, from the beginning.

OPERATION FIRE MAGIC
On on the early hours of this day in 1977, members of the Grenshutzgruppe 9 (GSG-9) storm Lufthansa 737 jetliner Flight 181 Landshut in the Somali capital of Mogadishu and freed 86 hostages. Three of the hijackers were killed during the assault; the fourth, a woman, was wounded. The hijackers murdered the aircraft pilot Jürgen Schumann (age 37) three days prior.

Southern Terrorist Advisory, Atlanta
The governors of Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi announced today that they have made a disturbing discovery in their states. Apparently, a small number of Al Qaeda terrorists have become romantically involved with local redneck girls.
The result is not pretty and they now have the sad task of reporting the creation of a new sector of the human race: Islamabubbas.
So far, only a smattering of actual births have been reported, but Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition is hard at work trying to isolate and seal them off.
To date, the Coalition has identified the following children:
Mohammed Billy BobAbba Bubba
Mohammed Jethro Bin Thinkin Boudit
Mohammed Forrest GumpaBubba
Mohamme Rubba Dub Dubba Bubba
Bobbie Joe Bubba Amgood Atat
Betty Jean Hasbeena Badgurl
Linda Sue Bin There Dundat
Not surprisingly, the Coalition believes they all seem to have sprung from one couple:
Mohammed Whoozyadaddy and Yomamma Bin Lovin.
