Yes, We're Doomed
I consider myself an American first, a pragmatist second and, third, a conservative. I am also a pessimist. Not because I hate sugar and spice, but because of my pragmatism and my conservatism. This is how I see things: All organizational structures reach a point where they can no longer sustain themselves. Great men go mad, beautiful actresses mutter to themselves about George Bush and Hitler, old courtroom titans become a source of pity and frustration.
I am an American. I believe in what my country was. I don't mean the constitution. I mean its people. I no longer believe in my people. Any human group that digs Barack Obama and thinks Michael Moore "has something to say" is doomed. I don't know how to make it any plainer. Why do our children kill? We have gone insane, that's why.
Do I hate Obama? Nope. I just know he's a phony, self-centered boy who has imposed his masturbatory Dreams on the rest of us.

When I really want to feel reality I read John Derbyshire's A Day That Will Live in Infamy. This is history folks. Saluting the flag and praising Wal-Mart won't stave off the inevitable, will it? (Derbyshire's little piece was written 4 months before 911, prophetically enough. It's always good to follow up with his Crusading They Went. Talk about 'Bush is Hitler!")

Almost "half"............from Rico
Nearly half of detroit's workers are unemployed. Despie an "official" unemployment rate of 27%, half the working-age population either cannot find a job or are working fewer hours than they want to.
Mayor david Bing said that the city's official unemployment rate was about as believable as Santa Claus, and in Washington, DC earlier this month said the actual rate "was closer to 50 percent."
Gee whiz, sure looks like those 'fiddy-two' percenters that voted for "change" really got it after all. Awwwwwwwww.

Running for selectman...
Today I got the nomination forms to run for Harpswell, ME selectman. The reason I am going to run is that the current batch (three) are clearly anti-business and seem to want to make sure there are no businesses left in Harpswell at all. As someone who frequents Harpswell business as often as I can, I find this sort of attitude incompatible with having a vibrant local community.
As the Maine state co-ordinator for the tea party patriots I am very keen on the core values of fiscal responsibility, limited government and the free market.
I look forward to meeting more citizens of Harpswell in my quest to give a business friendly voice to the governance of the town of Harpswell.

You could not PAY me to hold any US Treasury debt right now, and like the US Dollar, they will soon be scraps of paper....without ANY value.
I see nothing on the horizon with our current Adminsitration, Politicians, or Fed officials that inspires the least bit of confidence in me that they have the ability or wherewithal to do the right thing for the long-term prosperity of this nation. They are all bozo's.
Buy the Dollar why don't you...you'll have a 'religious' experience!
The gargantuan US indebtedness and current political policies pretty much guarantee (1) the US could very well be the next third world banana republic, and (2) a currency devaluation HAS to happen.
By "Spring" 2010 the public finances of major Western nations will be unmanageable...more bailouts will be needed because of the failure of the 2009 bailouts/stimulus efforts. This is the cost of kicking-the-can (problem) down the road into the future and relying on public expenditures and printing money rather than making thethe financial system pay for its mistakes.
The Middle Class will be impoverished, and the retired and the poorest among us will be set adrift.
Well, this IS "change" albeit NOT what you all thought you had signed-on for. I "hope" I'm wrong, but the numbers suggest that a tipping-point is very near....perhaps as soon as Spring 2010. The smell of it is already in the air........
