UK appoints top ambassador to Norfolk.........
After frenzied speculation the foreign office has appointed a new ambassador to head up the United Kingdom’s diplomatic mission to Norfolk.
Speaking shortly after receiving news of his appointment, Sir Harvey Gilbert, 58, said ‘Although I recognise that there is a vast cultural divide between us, I’m looking forward to my stint in Norwich and will be up and running as soon as I get to grips with the language.’
Although he has travelled extensively across the globe, Sir Harvey, like most British Government officials, has never had cause to visit our near neighbour. ‘I appreciate it is close to our nation geographically,’ he said, ‘but, it’s hardly the sort of place you’d choose to go to unless you had to. Would you?’ Before adding diplomatically, ‘No offence.’
Inevitably, the new ambassador will come under pressure from local Government representatives to increase Norfolk’s allocation of foreign aid. Fears of invasion from the increasingly volatile Suffolk across their southern border may cause a rethink, especially as Suffolk has nuclear capability in the form of the Sizewell nuclear reactors.
Sir Harvey, replaces the last ambassador, Hugo Penfold-Smith. Accounts smuggled out of Norfolk suggest that Mr Penfold-Smith may have ‘gone native’ before a rescue bid could be launched. Sources suggest that the former envoy can often be seen standing at the Grapes Hill roundabout in Norwich in his official robes, chewing on a straw and waving at the cars as they go past.

Connect With Confidence

Many of you may have seen the video below on You Tube. Geoff Burch was guest at a sales and marketing event I hosted in late 2008, called Communicate With Clarity. On May 12th,in Central London I'm event host along with the Executive Voice, Susan Heaton-Wright. Together we are presenting Speak Connect Engage. This half-day seminar is aimed at those who want to feel more comfortable face-to-face and on the phone with clients and potential customers. Feeling confident about how you project yourself is all about feeling comfortable with yourself. Together Susan and I will show delegates how to "raise their game".

Excellent and Eminent Men

Your friend Cicero does not advocate violence, or lawlessness but, in my age, fear it as a plague. The game of politics is to control Crowds, direct their energy, as opposed to permitting, or encouraging, the outbreak of psychosis. It is to the Crowd that credit for "Revolutions", and all the Hell they bring, must go.
I must clarify one thing for you and readers of Theo's blog: that was not Theo who posted that link, but yours truly.
And second, I was not advocating what was argued in that link. I included it for the convenience and edification of readers, as I believe them entitled to see and hear what is out there, within reason. I believe it fair game to let others see the ripples this monstrous deed in Washington is causing, and the dangers it portends for us all. I see now I was hasty in my post, creating the impression that I agreed with those sentiments, when I do not. I will be more careful in the future, thanks to you.
