Howard County Teacher Accused of Sex With Student in School Classroom
Howard County Teacher Accused of Sex With Student in School Classroom
COLUMBIA, Md. - A Howard County teacher has been arrested on a charge of having sex with a student in a classroom at Atholton High School in Columbia.
The arrested teacher is 51-year-old First Sgt. Charles Ray Moore, of Bowie. He has been an instructor in the JROTC program since 2005.
The complainant, a 17-year-old girl, told her mother about the involvement and the mother contacted both the school and the police department. Investigators believe there were two consecutive afternoons in mid-May when the teacher and student had sex in a classroom around 4:00 p.m.
Sgt. Moore was placed on administrative leave -- and escorted out of the building -- last Thursday. He was arrested Monday night. Among the charges is the serious offense of sexual abuse of a minor by a person in a position of authority, which, in Maryland carries a potentially stiff prison sentence.

Teacher allegedly showed kids what mom calls porn - chicagotribune.com
At least one parent thinks so...really?!
Teacher allegedly showed kids what mom calls porn - chicagotribune.com
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) An art teacher in Des Moines has been placed on paid leave amid allegations that she showed elementary school students a video that at least one parent says contained pornographic images.
Police have also launched an investigation after Sarah Foster notified them about a video that Karen Maresh had shown students, including her 9-year-old son, at Wright Elementary School.
The video was of the work of an artist that includes a picture of two males masturbating each other below the words "Safe Sex."
District officials say they placed Maresh on paid leave on Monday in connection with the May 17 incident but would not comment further.
Des Moines parents are still forced to pay this idiot a salary! If the district officials can't act swift and decisively in such a no-brainer case they, too, are unfit for the job.

Stiffkey Red Lion, North Norfolk..............
A review by our resident Norfolk restaurant critic Norfolk Diner.
It is some time since we have visited the Red Lion at Stiffkey.
The food has always been good value, yet I recall that over a year ago the facilities were looking somewhat tired.
However, as well as the addition of a new 10 bedroom hotel overlooking the marshes, the kitchen and loos in the old building have all been refurbished.
The food is still good value with a selection of specials, including half a grilled lobster at £13.95. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible.
One of us ordered the battered cod which was beautifully cooked and of Jurassic proportions, as was the homemade burger. A seasonal dish of asparagus in butter with Parmesan shavings made for a lighter main course for the less hungry.
As you would expect in this area, there is the usual selection of real ales available and a short, but thoughtfully composed wine list, by Ferrers Le Mesurier & Son.
The Red Lion was always a good traditional Norfolk pub, yet we all agreed it has become even better than we remembered and worth another visit this summer.

Movie Review: 'Mission Impossible III'

Short Review: The media reports of Tom Cruise’s kid’s feces being bronzed may be in error. As it turns out, it may have actually been the shooting script for this film.

Just print-spend more money!...................from Rico
The last time US Money Supply [M3] dropped so sharply was 1929-1933. Trillions of porkulus debt-dollars and many months of zero-interest FED rates later, it started to 'plummet' last summer and the rate of decline is accelerating.
So what?
You know what. You cannot borrow or spend your way OUT of debt, but neither you nor I are in Government right now. The three-ring circus running the show today are ALL flaming Keynesian economists (the ones who aren't bleeding Marxists, that is) and their solution is:
- Print more money?
- Spend more money (even if borrowed)?
Saner economists like Hayek and Friedman are being ignored, as is history.
Obama-Soetoro wanted to be the second FDR, and it looks like he will be an uber-FDR extending and deepening the economic collapse beyond anything yet seen to date and beyond what it would be without these clowns aggravating the situation by putting out this fire with gasoline.
- What IS it with people who believe in Communism despite it never having worked? Same for Keynesian economics. BOTH epic fails every time.
Forget about lighting cigars with dollar bills and plan on using twenties instead...they'll soon enough be 'worth' only a buck thanks to the deep-thinkers of Team Obama!
Oh, yeah...I almost 'forgot' to throw in "recovery!" Look at how the global markets are "recovering."
- Party like it's 1929!!!!!!!

Swirling the drain..........from Rico
Residential real estate is swirling the drain.
Why? What? Huh? You might fairly ask...especially if you get your news from the media and believe a 'recovery' has started, and believe Obama-Soetoro who claimed 'we have averted a disaster' (thanks to Team Obama).
There are 140 million personal residences in the United States today.
- Zillow says 20 million owners 'plan' to sell their homes if there is any improvement in price.
- Four million existing homes are currently on the market.
- Lennar, Pulte, et al have one million new homes for sale.
- There are one million bank-owned properties.
- Eight million mortgages are late on their payments.
Not very good numbers.
Now consider that the 80 million baby boomers are retiring at a rate of 10,000 per day, many wanting or needing to downsize residences as they age.
- Assuming they are downsizing from a 2,500 square foot home to a 1,000 square foot condo, and/or a 100 square foot assisted-living facility, that is a shrinking of demand of 4.3 billion square feet per year. [Figure roughly the size of San Francisco each year.]
Think the 65 million Gen X-er's are going to pick up the slack in the market?
- I would not bet on it, not with unemployment and taxes climbing...and inflation, serious inflation, has yet to hit.
Take away = It's probably NOT a very safe investment to make right now.
