Absolutely STOOPID!!!..........from Rico
Never highly renowned as a bastion of deep-thinking, the Congress of the USA has plumbed new depths of incandescent stupidity!
S.510, the so-called Food Safety & Modernization Act* just foisted upon us by a lame-duck Democratic Congress (and six RINO's) by a 73-to-25 vote "fixes" a non-problem....the deaths of 9 people over two years (or, 4.5 per year) giving you 'odds' of 1 in 73 million of being YOU, and saving us from 350/year 'sickened' resulting in odds of 1 in 943,000 annually.
- Putting it in perspective, our odds of being killed in an automotive accident are 1 in 7,800 annually.
Impressive bit of work you collection of kollectivist numbnuts!!!
- This is right up there with TSA and Health Care Reform!
*Others will better expound on this Act making growing your own food, sharing your own food with neighbors, etc. criminal behavior under Federal law. The Kulaks must be crushed to save the proletariat!

Happy Chanuka
David Brooks, in his Op-Ed piece in the NY Times, was upset to learn that Chanukah isn't about Religious Tolerance or whatever he grew up to believe, but about civil war and the survival of Judaism.
He
of course paints the heroes of the Chanukah story, the Maccabees, as a
bunch of religious fanatics/Talibanist fighting the moderate Greeks who
were looking to "synthesize" the Greek and Jewish cultures together.
Anyone with an internet connection can read the original texts and see what was really happening.
According to Josephus[34]:
"...he [the Greek King Antiouchus] compelled the Jews to dissolve the laws of their country, and to keep their infants uncircumcised, and to sacrifice swine's flesh upon the altar; against which they all opposed themselves, and the most approved among them were put to death. Bacchides [the Greek appointed General] also, who was sent to keep the fortresses, having these wicked commands, joined to his own natural barbarity, indulged all sorts of the extremest wickedness, and tormented the worthiest of the inhabitants, man by man, and threatened their city every day with open destruction, till at length he provoked the poor sufferers by the extremity of his wicked doings to avenge themselves."By denying the Jews their right to worship in their own faith, forcing them to abandon circumcision, defile the Temple with swine and appointing a barbaric general, the Greeks attempted to erase Judaism and the belief of monotheism.
Maybe that's why George Washington, upon learning about Chanuka from a Jewish soldier at Valley Forge said, "Perhaps we are not as lost as our enemies would have us believe. I rejoice in the Macabees' success, though it is long past...It pleases me to think that miracles still happen."
Some background:
The story of Chanuka begins during...

Bonus Babe: Veronika London

(December 1, 2010 Los Angeles, California) A busy year comes to an end for the Mexican born- Canadian raise actress Veronika London, who splashed into our world on the HBO series "Lingerie". Her year which consisted of grazing men's magazines, becoming an International Maxim model and shooting films and television is sure way to start off 2011 strong. The comparison of having the sex appeal of Megan Fox which scored her a title of the "Megan Fox of Hollywood North" by Maxim US put her on the map giving her world wide exposure. The year for London ends with more recognition in her film work yet of course her sex appeal- being number 8 in the IMDB Top 100 Scream Queens, beating out Anna Paquin, Megan Fox (her competition) and Milla Jovovich to name a few.

4th Amendment..........from Rico
Part of das Hopenchange consists of ignoring reality, and 'inconvenient' portions of the US Constitution.
- Second Amendment? The right to protect your life isn't your right, it is a privilege to be granted or taken away by our political uberclass.
- Fourth Amendment? Hahahahahaha....our current regime wiped their asses with that one via an over-reaching bureaucracy laughingly known as TSA. And now TSA wants to unionize. That'll be a great boon to our safety.....just like Detroit's UAW was for GM and Chrysler!
Fixing the economy with TARP, QE-1, and now QE-2. That'll sure work! When QE-2 is through, the U.S. money supply will have tripled in three years! The results? Not good, and they'll get worse.
Fixing our Healthcare system via Obamacare was another idiotic big-gooberment scheme. Yeah, nationalize medical care....that'll work well! Doctors are so thrilled we 'fixed' Medicare with this plan, that they are 'celebrating' not seeing Medicare patients and instead choosing private-paying patients thanks to the Obamacare mechanism reducing medicare payments to physicians 23% effective Dec 1st. Yay!
- Central government solves yet another problem!!!
Obama-Soetoro is well on his way to eclipse James Earl Carter as the absolute worst President evah!!!! This is no small task, mind you:
- After Jimmy Carter nationalized energy policy under the Department of Energy (which was publicly promoted to 'fix' our dependence on foreign energy sources), pretty much ensuring our increased dependence upon foreign oil, he similarly 'fixed' the education system by creating the Department of Education, and our teachers unionized (NEA? anybody...anybody...) the public is now too dumbed-down to even 'know' they have any rights beyond the kollective.

Whose money is it?...........from Rico
There is a recurring theme among ALL Governments. In hillbilly it goes like this: "All your money is belong to us!"
- Or, as our IRS is fond of saying: "Just try not to think of it as YOUR money."
HUNGARY, following ARGENTINA's example, is clawing-back private pension funds into the State system.
IRELAND announced last week that it would use the country's National Pensions Reserve Fund "to support the exchequer's funding programme."
The FRENCH Parliament passed a law last week to use the assets of the FFR (the French Reserve Pension Fund) to pay off the current debts of France's welfare system. These funds have already been transferred into the State's social debt fund.
The U.S. Congress has been discussing ways to nationalise (confiscate) private 401K's and IRA's.
See a pattern here? There is an increasing willingness by insolvent Governments to use your (long term) assets to fill their (short term) deficits.
- If you are looking forward to a State pension (Social Security) you may be disappointed. The State will take care of itself before it will take care of you. You can absolutely trust Government to "mug" you for your money before it does without.
So many politicians, so few lamp posts.....

Israel To Send Aid Flotilla To Ireland
Approximately 800 foreign correspondents currently based in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem who are horrified by the developing humanitarian crisis in Ireland will be offered accommodation on board at special rates, tips included, for the cruise. The ship will be renamed “Danny Boy” for the trip. A 10 year-old Druze girl from Daliyat el-Carmel has said she hacked the ship’s IT system with a virus she calls “Sucksnet” and programmed the ship’s siren to play “When Irish Eyes are Smiling” in an effort to cheer the Irish up when the ship pulls into Dublin Harbour.

Prospects for Regime Change in North Korea
At the clip below, with Donald Kirk of the Christian Science Monitor. He speaks toward the end on the extreme dangers of a military overthrow in North Korea, especially a refugee crisis. Interesting how these dangers are raised primarily in the context of outside intervention, and not in the case of an implosion of the dictatorship in Pyongyang. Most problematic is the size of the North Korean forces, with nearly 1,000,000 troops under arms. A military incursion from the south would only be feasible with a combined contingent of American and South Korean units. The U.S. would provide air support off shore through carrier battle groups. Tokyo has indicated its support for military retaliation --- and Japanese military forces were deployed to Iraq in the first outside operations since WWII --- so perhaps the operation could be multilateralized. And then there's China. We can only speculate, but it's unlikely any force options would be available without some kind of support from Beijing. Regime change North Korea would require buy-in from all the major actors, and so far I don't see much realistic discussion of it on the Chinese side. (But see, "Is China About to Throw North Korea Under The Bus?") Certainly China relishes the regional prestige from propping up its NoKo client. But should the Kim dynasty continue its bellicose actions, perhaps leading to the additional loss of life, the situation will be an increasing reminder of the false peace of 1930s Europe. A huge blowout of historic proportions could be expected.
Kirk's got a report from yesterday: "Disillusioned South Korea Weighs Response to North Korean Flare-Up."
And New York Times has another installment on the diplomatic cables: "Leaked Cables Depict a World Guessing About North Korea." And related news at Memeorandum.

Korea Update ..................from DJ Elliott
US Deploys Carrier Strike Group, US Air Force to Western Pacific
Accelerated deployment for Vinny, they were supposed to deploy after the holidays...
Information Dissemination write........
So if I am some North Korean intel analyst looking at this - what am I looking at?
I see this rather enormous George Washington (CVN 73) Carrier Strike Group escorted by a rather large and capable number of US and South Korean Navy warships exercising in my front lawn. I am also observing this ultra modern Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group deploying from the US west coast, heading my way under what looks to be a completely unique deployment schedule that just might be coming quickly specifically because of me.
Oh btw, more than half the Japanese fleet is either at sea or on high readiness, and the US Air Force is quietly positioning capabilities that will really hurt if the shooting happens. In the context of the South Korean Presidents speech, I might be a little concerned.
As I look at this, I see an opportunity for the US and allies to increase the pressure and make moves that put a bit of fear back into the North Koreans for a change. I do not think it would be a bad thing for the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) to go dark and start heading towards the strait. I can think of some interesting places for that Carrier Strike Group to pop up all of a sudden to make a strategic announcement of presence. It seems to me that the more pressure the North Koreans feel right now, the more China is empowered in influencing North Korea. China has let editorials critical of North Korea run in the daily papers all week - something we never saw following the Cheonan incident.
There is an opportunity here - one that makes China a partner while also allowing us to stand strong with South Korea. How does it come together? I see many possibilities, and if I was writing the script I would start writing it with this deployment of the Carl Vinson CSG - with its unique ships and unique deployment pattern, and perhaps a bit of unique strategic communication to go a long with it aimed at the North Koreans.
