The BIG bounce..........from Rico

Ayn was one smart woman. She wrote about "the BIG bounce" long before any of the economic 40# brains even had a glimmer of a clue.
Sadly, this is true even today. We are witnessing pretend-and-extend economics, also known as MOPE (management of perception economics).

Redneck Traffic Stop

It seems a guy cruises through a stop sign and gets pulled over by a local policeman.

The guy hands the cop his driver’s license, insurance verification, and registration. The policeman notices a Concealed Carry Permit as the man was fishing out his drivers license.  So the cop asks,  “Are you  carrying today?”
“Yes, I am.”

“Well then, better tell me what you got.”

The guy says,  “Well, I got a .357 revolver in my inside coat pocket. There’s a 9mm semi-auto in the glove box.  And, I’ve got a .22 magnum derringer in my right boot.”

“Okay,” the cop says. “anything else?”

“Yeah, back in the trunk, there’s an AR15 and a shotgun. That’s about  it.”

The cop asks, "Are you on your way to or from a gun range ?”

“Nope.”

“Well then, what are you afraid of ?”

The guy responds, “Not a damn thing.”

Facebook Wrestles With Free Speech and Civility

You think?

The story's at New York Times.

Turns out that Mark Zuckerberg and Co. are developing a "hate and harassment team" ...

...charged with taking down content that is illegal or violates Facebook’s terms of service. That puts them on the front line of the debate over free speech on the Internet.
Right.

Free speech on the Internet?

What a quaint notion. Progressives can't have that, as my comment threads indicate, repeatedly.

Log-rolling-Socialism-Flat Tax........from Rico

Printing fiat paper money = log-rolling debt that cannot ever be "paid off" even at zero-interest!
- If you stopp the log-rolling, you "splash."

By 2008 the USG and Corporate debt exceeded Global GDP. Even IF the US could DOUBLE it's GDP now (under current circumstances, just figure the odds of that happening), this "ponzi" scheme cannot be kept from "splashing."

BUT, thanks to the wonders of Socialism, Obama HAS a PLAN.

The Obama Flat Tax solves all of our problems. No more money, no more problems. Gee, thanks....I guess.
- Trust him, he's the Government and he's here to help!

The Most Boring Celebrities of the Year

Most Boring Celebrities of the Year
The Boring Institute Revives List After a Long Hiatus

South Orange, NJ – It’s official. Lindsay Lohan is the Most Boring Celebrity of the Year according The Boring Institute.

After a hiatus following 9/11, The Boring Institute is back with its annual list of “The Most Boring Celebrities of the Year.”  Founded in 1984 by Alan Caruba, a public relations counselor, the Institute was active for nearly two decades spoofing celebrities, films, and television shows.

This year’s list is filled with familiar show business names. In reverse order, it is:

10. Kanye West. Or is that Kanye Pest?

9. Mel Gibson. Mel is giving bigotry and misogyny a bad name.

8. Betty White. Older than dirt, but she keeps escaping from the Actor’s Home.

7. Keith Olberman.  He and the five other people watching MSNBC need a personality transplant.

6. Joy Behar.  She is proof that having an opinion is not the same as having an IQ that’s lower than room temperature.

5. Justin Bieber. He’s cute and the little girls adore him. An earlier generation felt the same way about Paul McCartney and now they’re all grandmothers.

4. Miley Cyrus. It’s painful watching Miley navigate her teenage years. We wonder what it will be like to go through menopause with her.

3. Lady GaGa. Take away the weird fashion statements plus weird makeup and what do you have? Boy George.

2. Snookie. Cute nickname and not much else. The rumor that people from New Jersey have an attitude is true.

1. Lindsay Lohan. Fresh from rehab, let’s hope America’s most famous drug and alcohol addict stays clean so Charlie Sheen can regain the title.

“We’re not saying that these celebrities are themselves boring people,” says Caruba, “but that the overwhelming media coverage and exposure gets very boring, very fast.”

Caruba is widely known as a daily commentator via his popular blog, “Warning Signs” where he casts a wary eye on politics, popular culture, and other topics. The Boring Institute maintains a blog at http://theboringinstitute.blogspot.com.

Progressives Cheer Mark Madoff Suicide as 'Revolutionary Justice'

At DownWithTyranny!, "At This Point Do We Have to Be Hoping for a Revolution?" (And Memeorandum.)

From Howie Klein in the comments:

On the other hand, more rich people and the criminal spawn can hang themselves, the way Mark Madoff did. That's justice served -- and revolutionary enough.
Amazing.

Folks may have heard. Mark Madoff hanged himself exactly two years after his father Bernard was arrested in the financial Ponzi scheme indictment. See NYT, "
Madoff’s Elder Son Found Dead in Suicide." (And at Legal Insurrection and Memeorandum.)

But read
DownWithTyranny! Howie Klein is actually a top activist with the Firedoglake Act Blue coalition, but these folks make no qualms about calling for revolution. Clearly the death of Mark Madoff is fulfilment in miniature of leftist demands for decapitation of the Old Regime, on the order of the French and Russian Revolutions. The context is this student's "fight back" speech, below, announcing revolutionary solidarity with Britain's fight-the-cuts uprising from last week's Coalition of Resistance Conference in Britain. DownWithTyranny! then links to a revolutionary manifesto from Ian Welsh, "An American Future." The commentary reflects less an explicit agenda than a prediction for the pivotal crisis of capitalism in the near term. While Welsh is ambiguous on the ripeness for proletarian agitation, cleary Howie Klein and his progressive comrades are welcoming an epic confrontation with the capitalist state. The death of Mark Madoff is not a sad family tragedy but a symbol of state crisis, and, ominously, of the murderous reckoning awaiting the forces of reaction. This is, most of all, completely in keeping with the violent sensiblities of the left, which have been on display all week long at this blog. All I can say is hold your most cherished values close, and your loved ones even closer. The proletarian crisis needs a revolutionary vanguard to bring class consciousness to the contented and under-mobillized masses. Britain is gripped right now by an austerity crisis, and at home we've had some of our own anarcho-socialist violence. I hope I'm wrong, as I always say. But one of these days a new Weatherman-style organization will break out again with a campaign of domestic terrorism. And that's just the beginning. It's a dreadful thought, but these folks are simply not going wait for more suicides. I'm convinced, in due time, they'll work to accelerate the forces of "revolutionary justice" for thousands of Mark Madoffs.
